Is the LHW division really that slim?

yes it is.

Personally im in FULL favour of just turning it into a circus purely for my amusment.

Just make Alex vs Hill right now. IT makes no sense, but who cares, No one wants to watch Jan or Magomed or rakic. So just give it to alex and maybe we get alex vs izzy 3 for the lhw title because lets be honest Alex vs Izzy 3 is more interesting than any LHW title fight other than Maybe jiri vs Hill which isn't happening this year.

Aljo after the DQ was that most illegitimate
No, hill is significantly worse. I know where you're coming from but the simple fact that atleast Aljo obtained the title from a lineal ufc champion makes a world of difference

For hill to get a title, a champ had to vacate, then the vacant title fight had to end in a draw.

Yes, they are pretty slim compared to HW fighters

But are their balls less hot?

You have Anthony Smith as number 7, Johnny Walker as 5 tied with Nikita Kyrlov. And you have Jamal fucking Hill as the champ.

This is the worst LHW has ever been ever.

UFC just needs to buy Bellator's LHW division and combine them and now we're talking.

Can't argue with that :)

LHW was at it's worst in 2018 and 2019 when all it's elite fighters left the division except Jones, Gus(whose spirit left). When Volkan and Smith were getting title shots. This is how Jan, Glover and Anthony Smith secured their high rankings that Smith still holds to this day. Smith is ranked where he is because as a top 5 fighter he was allowed to fight 3 unranked opponents in a row. THAT is why he is ranked 7th not because he's a top 10 fighter. He hasn't been since 2020.

The UFC has had a deep lineup since 2020/2021 it's just matchmaking, injuries and circumstance that's kept the division stagnant.

Jamaal fucking Hill is a great fighter tbh. He had a brain fart against Craig it happens to the best of us. Jan and Glover were questionable champs(Glover in the past is a different story) but Hill? What's wrong with Hill?

I don't think LHW is as bad as people say it is. The belts been a hot potato because guys are pretty equal to each other. As far as Pereira getting shortcut to title, it's no different from when division was stacked.

Think about it, Chael went 0-2 with MW goat and got a fight with Jones immediately after. Pereira went 1-1 with #2 MW goat and has to go through the guy who outgrappled Izzy.

LHW just doesn't have an immediate #1 contender after the Jan/Ankalaev draw.

That's what you get for being greedy fucks and letting go of elite talent because they want a bump from the 20/20k after their 10 fight contract expired.

As much as I like Alex Pereira fighting for the LHW title, I'm still wondering why the UFC really wanted him and several other fighters from MW to move up.
What happened to Jiri and Anka?
Are they done forever?

The card this weekend could've been Vettori vs Pereira, but instead we got something else.
You seem to be insinuating that Dana forced Alex to 205. Is that really what you think?

LHW is highly competitive, even with Jones and Glover gone. But between Jiri's injury and a #1 contender bout draw a draw for the belt between Jan and Magomed, things are just a tad bottlenecked at the top. Hey, it happens sometimes.

And yes, Dana will fast track a fighter who has captured the attention of a majority of fans. It is known. So, ya, he may get a title shot soon...but not necessarily because the division is slim.

For the record, Alex isn't fighting for the title yet...

Where is Rakic?

He is recovering for a long time now
I remember seeing a interview where he was planning to come back q2 2023.. he completley dissapeared

The UFC let its top talent retire or go to Bellator

I remember when Hill got a small boost in popularity because he defended Dana White against Ariel Helwani.

The fucking state of this fanbase I swear.

I must be the only one who thinks that pereira having a number one contender fight is perfectly merit based.

He finished a dominant champion the division down and ko in one rd a top 5.

If he can beat a top LHW he should fight for the title.

He’s a recent champion, why would we start him fighting like ion or Craig??

I feel like perreira deserves this fight, and if he fairly wins, then he deserves the title shot.

Ank doesn’t deserve shit. Barely beat santos, drew with Jan. had lame wins over smith and Colman

It would be interesting if Izzy stepped in again, and also Chimaev.
