I'm with it since last year I have done all the boxing, muay thai, etc workouts, against the air and against the heavy bag for 1h I really like it but I didn't actually train on a school (since 5 years) so this month I started looking for some place to train because I have more speed, cardio, technique but 0 reaction to hits.

so I took many free first class of boxing, muay thai and mma and I DIDN'T LIKE IT!

not because of being punched but because of conditioning ... as you know the Bas Rutten's routine have almost no pauses, is continous, so a normal structure of this 3 styles (box, mt, mma) on those schools were like this:

15min of 3 rounds of jumping rope+push ups+sit ups+abs+sprawls+neck bridge

3 min of shadow boxing

then 1 min of "guys put your gloves"

then 30 seg to 1 min of the instructor showing technique

then 3 min of practicing this technique with partner pads or against the heavy bag.

around 5 to 8 techniques so this was like 1h and 15min of class

SO ... for me I'm not use to pause and like to continously hit or do some exercise, and this really bored me ... even the 15 min conditioning was nothing and the guys there were surprised that I didn't even got tired after 15min

so people what can I do?

I'm not trolling this happened for real in 5 gyms! even the most well recognized!

By the way Bas if you're reading this I really thank you for your routines

I have lost 30kg on a year and have the top conditioning on my life :)

Maybe you should join a conditioning class??

If you want to learn how to actually put your conditioning to use, then perhaps you should get over yourself and actually do what you're shown in the (box, mt, mma) classes. There will be a bit of conditioning, yes, but the focus of the classes will be techniques.

If this doesn't satisfy you, perhaps the nexersys would be up your alley. You can do real sparring with that:(

You probably want to look for a cardio kickboxing class or something tailored more towards providing a solid cardio exercise vs. a traditional boxing gym which is there to teach you how to box.

Holy shit, 5 gyms tried to teach you techniques during class instead of just wearing you out for an hour? I can understand why you'd be frustrated.

Yes Bas Rutten conditioning is the best in the world by far. Bas's athletes have repeatedly won Olympic gold medals in Nordic skiing and long distance running events as well as countless cross-fit Championships (surely this is at least as impressive as any Olympic gold) and they have dominated swimming events and triathlons for decades now.

I think you should be doing Zumba with a 30 pound weighted vest, 10 pound weights on your ankles and 10 pound dumbbells in your hands as a next step up the ladder. After that try iron man events with some elitefts purple bands spun from ankle to ankle carrying sets of 20 pound chains for the swimming, on the bike you can only use the highest gear and make sure the break is stuck breaking on the front tire. Finally you can do bear crawls instead of the running.

Uphill prowler sprints, stopping every 30m for 20 burpees, for 600m. Then put the prowler on your back, and do lunges downhill. Repeat ten times.

You're welcome.

I seriously hope this thread is a joke. But the TS said he already has technique, so - clearly - there is nothing he could possibly learn from taking an actual class.

By the way mma classes are nothing like yours. We would do approx 30 mins of conditioning including some pad work. Then we should spend40 mins focusing on just 1 or 2 techniques, drilling them, coach checking on us, making sure all mechanics, angles etc then we

If only I had this problem. Most of the gyms I have gone to makes you work on conditioning 70% of the entire duration of the sessions. I have decent conditioning, but really poor technique.

Something like taebo???

TS is either trolling or about 13 years old.

Yeah, I hate this as well. It's one of the reasons I'm not longer bothered to attend the (lone) MMA tuition available to me. If I wanted to be cardio king I would fucking do it on my free time.

Short answer: Yes. Long answer: Of course.

sounds like youre really looking for intense cardio training and i really think crossfit was made just for you. no joke. do it. youll fit right in and love it. no more air punching and nonsense pausing for you, youll be puking and tearing shit up. good luck.

Work Capacity 101 by Ross Enamait is by far, the most intense conditioning workout I've done as of yet.

I've used Bas's cd's for the last 8-9 months and i love em too. What rep range do you use on the All Round Workout ( not the All Round Fighting), the most i've done is 23 reps per exercise and inbetween i hit the bag instead of shadowboxing. It always kicks my arse no matter what.
I'd like to hear more experiences with it ( especially the All Round workout), to see where i'm at compared to other trainees. And to know its not just me that nearly pukes every session:)
