Is shootfighting outdated in modern UFC or is it a relevant fighting system?

How would taking your opponent down and setting up said takedown be outdated?

These guys are just the shoot-fighting equivalent of boxercise classes. They clearly have no training whatsoever, so I don't see how that reflects on Shooto at all.

No, if anything most MMA fighters can’t even grasp these things. Most don’t set-up any king of takedowns and run to the clinch like Rousey. Most fighters don’t even know hoe to defend. Case and point Khabib running in behind little to no strikes and repeatedly getting away with it. While MMA has come a long way, there are plenty of techniques that have been forgotten or just never realized. Look at the calf kicks that have come to the forefront recently. I’ve seen fighters in obscure promotions use them, and people are just now finding out about it’s effectiveness? MMA coaches severely lacking IMO.

How long has karate been around? How good is Wonderboy?

All im saying is, no style is outdated if you can master some elements of it while being good at MMA.

This. Techniques along with the strategies/art forms seem to move in and out of style in cycles. The early Pancrase guys like Ken Shamrock used leg locks all the time. Then, they became forgotten outside of a few specialists like Palhares, and now they're coming back again. That's just one example; there are many more.

I remember my first Shootfighting experience. Master Shingo, a former Shootfighting champion, trained Nick and Ruben Walker, and eventually had to face his old nemesis, Mr. Lee:
