Sherdog would be on meltdown and everyone would lose their shit if Jon Jones did this but Cormier gets away with it.




He just thrust his open hand at his face. How is that not a point deduction.
 
It was more of a razor-like flick than an actual poke. Very graceful IMO.

He fought the entire fight with his fingers out, he poked him again right before he KO'd him. Can't blame him, blame the ref for not taking a point.

He poked him on the same side the punch landed too. Kind of takes away from the victory a little.

Lost a lot of respect for DC doing that in spite of his win. He didn't just stick his fingers out he want from a semi closed fist to an intentional JKD style finger flick and thumb gouge and clearly raked Stipe's eye.

Shortly after lands a KO punch on the side of the head from the clinch on that same eye.

UFC was supposed to start holding fighter accountable for eye gouges. Its isn't like a groin shot where you can completely recover. You vision is fucked for a long duration time after, it doesn't just come back in a couple minutes.

The worst part is he said Stipe was a friend. When you have to stoop so slow to injure and potentially blind a friend just to win a prize fight is just sad.
 
There is at least 10 threads about the eye poke. It also wasn't a 2 finger poke directly to the eyes like Jones did. It was also 1 poke. Jones poked 3-4 times in 1 fight and poked 4-5 fights in a row.

Again what happened to cleaning up the sport? Yes, there is such thing as an unintentional eye gouge. But that is one of the most clear cut examples of "intentional" the sport will ever see.

It had no effect on the finish, but it's the only thing for the haters to cling to. Those same haters are the same ones who give guys like Gustaffson a pass for all his many eyepokes, and there are many. I wonder why that is.

DC landed the punch on the same side he raked Stipes eye. Let's not act like he won a fair fight. Imagine if someone like Covington or Vick did this everyone would lose their shit.

I have a theory, I know it sounds crazy , but Marc-Goddard had a major beef with Conor McGregor for years, which is why he would be totally interested in DC winning. I mean, think about it. Conor's greatest accomplishment is/was simultaneous betls, but DC's win kinda overshadows what the Notorious did
