Is Sean Strickland Trying To Be Awful On Purpose? Is This An Act?

He's clearly trying to compensate for the fact he is a bland, uninteresting person with no charisma by being as vitriolic as possible. Essentially taking the Colby edgelord shtick to the "next level".

It's stupid, even pathetic.

No you don't get it, Sean is legit crazy. Like mentally crazy. Dude looks like a raging psycho every time I see him and I think he can out-crazy anyone in the division right now.

We all have heard about his psychotic wish to kill someone in the ring, or so he says, but Sean Strickland has said a slew of horrible shit. He's quickly climbed to my most disliked list, just because of how much of an asshole he is. Just recently, he said this.

He seems like almost too much of an ass to be real, but all that means is either I hate him for being a psycho homophobic nutjob, or I hate him for being fake as hell and just trying to get attention.

Either way, I don't like 'em.

He is trying to become a villain by pushing all the buttons. But he doesn't have charisma. Colby made it sort of work by turning political and winning consistently at the top. I doubt he will be able to pull this off; he's just not interesting and spouting toxic shit wears out.

It's marketing. Saying outrageous things and trolling gets attention. People pay to see him lose or pay to see him win. Either way, everyone is watching his fights these days.

Eh, what's pathetic is the fact we ask professional athletes to play the clown and have pro wrestling gimmicks in order to get paid.
Shit like this or Colby is just a consequence of that. Not everyone can be good and someone IS gonna try too hard.

I suspect it’s an act. And blame Conor and the WWF fanbase for it all. But I don’t know the guy. So it’s just my impression.

I don't think it's an act, per se. I think Sean is likely a couple of tacos short of a combo platter, but I don't think he's as crazy as he makes himself out to be. I believe it's more like he's just dialing up certain aspects of his personality.

Personally, I like Sean Strickland. He's definitely unique both in and out of the cage, and even though some of what he says is a little disturbing, he's also funny and self-deprecating at times. It seems like fighters today are either the humble martial artist or the brash and cocky showman. Sean is different, and I like that.

Live look at all the folks up in their feelings about SS:

When Colby starter his act he came accross as the biggest Conor wannabe. Remember watching YouTube interviews of him back then and everybody was posting cringe and stuff like that. Look how public opinion has changed. People see him as a fun character now. The public even kinda considers him a UFC draw.

If Sean can back it up in the cage he can get to that level. He is natural enough
