Okay losing twice to the same fighter who is only 20 years old, who you were a mentor figure to when she was a kid, yeah that sucks and must be really demoralizing. Especially when Rena is 27 and supposed to be at the peak of her career.

She's trained under Rumino Sato, who is a submission grappling wizard with a very aggressive style. Maybe she needs a to train in a more defensive grappling style.

She could come to the states and train BJJ with the Nate Diaz and Kron Gracie. That'd be both hilarious and good for her.

Rena Kubota is almost the best looking woman in combat sports ever.

She trained in a fringe sport. She dominated that sport. She had some skills that translated well to MMA. She gave it a shot. But, pretty much the first thing every Japanese MMA fighter learns is how to choke out a kick boxer. In short, she was a big fish in a small pond...and now she has swum into the ocean. I think she can be moderately successful in MMA...but she'll never be a great fighter.

I think she showed a good improvement between Kanna fight 1 and Kanna fight 2, you can't make up all that ground in such a short time and the rematch was booked too soon for ratings purposes.

She was booked on the last RIZIN card but was hospitalised due to weight cut issues so it doesn't seem like she's stopped MMA after the Kanna fights. Besides Gina stopped after her first loss, didn't come back for a second...
