Is Poatan the most liked and respected fighter on sherdog?

Poatan is certainly a unique fighter, with power as a kickboxer that would put even a heavyweight to shame.

The only gripe I have against him is that he's definitely a LHW that has the willpower to cut all the way down to MW, but if controversies regarding weight cutting are taken into account then it means that other fighters should be freely be allowed to cut as much weight as possible, even allowing IVs if needed.

As of right now, Pereira is by far the largest fighter for a specific weight class that the roster has seen in a long time, and that's more or less due to how much weight the guy cuts in the lead-up to a weigh-in.

The weight bully thing isn't much of an issue when you realize that 3 of his 4 UFC victims have fought at LHW themselves (Izzy has even fought at HW in combat sports). Maybe Bruno Silva can send a letter to the complaints department but the others have had no issues taking on LHWs.

This will almost certainly be his last fight at MW too.

It's very hard to dislike the guy, he behaves like a true professional and fights like a savage. Shit I'm a big Izzy fan and I was happy for him winning the strap. More fighters could stand to be like Alex.

I'm neutral on him. He's a beast, but he's too new and just kind of basic in his personality to really have an opinion on him for me. He seems cool but he seems like he could be a little crazy too.

It was crazy how fast he got a title shot though.

this. Dude speaks no english at all so he hasn't had the opportunity yet to say some dumb shit

he will get the Costa treatment once a wrestler does him

People talk up every aspect of Pereira like he's perfect and in control of everything. It's very strange how much is attributed to him. That said he's looked damn good in MMA so far and his striking is deadly.

I feel like he was very well-liked when he won the title, but he rubbed the victory in Adesanyas face to hard and to long on Instagram etc. I saw an increase of dislikes and fans turning on him after a few weeks.

Knocking out Strickland and Izzy helped a lot, as well as the fact that he looks like a Marvel Character. He will lose fans once he loses to a grappler. I think his first loss will look a lot like Jon Jones vs Gane

I like the story. Dude is literally from a tribe in the rain forest. He’s an absolute killer in the ring.
Except he literally isn't from a tribe in the rain forest. He knew nothing about that until his coach that he adopted it from.

He may be a descendent of those people but he wasn't raised like that.

He did a speed run to the title and took out a champ that was more Hated than most.

"If You don't like him may your mother die of cancer of the eyes".

That's a quote from a show. Just thought it was fitting itt.

Nope it's still conor. The sherdog nuthuggery far outweighs any fighter on this board in terms of ratios.

That was like the twighlight zone. I didn't even know who the kid was but every other post I read, "Conor bless".

We will only find out after he loses. Right now most of these fans are bandwagonners who would have written him off had he not finished Izzy in the 5th.

That's the sad truth... just look at how beloved Ciryl Gane was on Sherdog before the Jon Jones fight.

"Bon Gamin" was constantly in discussion for best striker ever in MMA HW history, leader of the new generation of athletic and talented HWs, he just needs to fix the holes in his ground game and he's set for life, martial art genius, look at his dunks, etc etc etc

After his quick submission loss, suddenly he was never any good <{titihmm}> fake nice guy personality, overrated, will never win another big fight, just feed him to Pavlovich/Blaydes, HW is the worst division ever, JJ wants a fcking medal for subbing this can???

The exact same thing will happen to Poatan if he loses his next fight;
And that's not us being pessimistic, it's just that Gane vs Jones wasn't long ago, so anyone with a decent memory remembers how highly spoke of he was on Sherdog before that unfortunate loss.

Idk if he's most all of that, but he def seems likable and respectable.

1 loss and any good will built at this place will evaporate, though, and he'll have never been all that good anyway.
