I feel robocop and total recall are solid cults but nothing special, basic instict as well. then there is hollow man, showgirls and some other bad films he's made.. sp what do you think

I don't know if he's a great director fully in the classical sense but he's a very good director who's not boring. He brings a slant to a lot of movies.

I've always felt that Verhoeven was an industrious storyteller with a unique perspective.

But it was a subscription to over-the-top violence that limits the impact of his work.

Not at all if anything his actual genius was limited by studio executives there is a lot of compromises he had to make in scripts and cinematography. The starship trooper sequels would have been way better with verhoeven.

Eh he’s made 7 American films I believe and only two are objectively bad; Showgirls and Hollow Man. And the other five are not only good but ICONIC to differing levels:
