Is Pac vs Martinez realistic?

I would love to see that fight, but is Martinez too big for a fight with Pac? Maybe they could meet at a fair catchweight, who knows.. Margarito is similar in size to Martinez, and while he towered over Pac, he got destroyed regardless.

pac is a lil small but it would be an amazing fight,i get chills every time i see the martinez-williams kO.i was expecting a repeat of their first fight and WHAM williams is sleeping.

Yeah then maybe after Pac can move up and take on Haye and the Klitschko brothers. Manny is 5'6 and a bit, middleweight could be a slight stretch of the imagination.

Don't be ridiculous...

He can't just skip LHW. He needs to fight the winner of Hopkins/Pascal first...then bring on the Ruskies.

pac is 145 soaking wet and sergio walks around at 176. huge fan of both these fighters and would hate to see this matchup. most likely pac gets ko'ed. and its a lose lose for martinez.

Its a fight that will never materialize. Sergio should focus on super middle and try to get a big money fight in Europe or in Canada against Bute.

Pac nor Floyd would take a fight with Sergio - hes too good, too much size, and Sergio as a draw just isnt there yet (may never be a great draw given his age too).

I'm all for fighters taking on the best of the best, but if Manny's management makes that fight they should be tarred and feathered.

Martinez is way to big and fast. They have weight divisions for a reason afterall.

Sergio Martinez should just fight the winner of the Super Six if he wants a big marquee fight

I would be more interested in a Bernard hOpkins vs Sergio fight...

see if B-Hop can work his magic again.

Pac and Martinez are probably closer in weight than Hopkins and Martinez are
Why would Martinez, who recently fought at 154 but has had to move to 160 to find solid opponents, move to not 168 but 175 pounds? I mean, if he's going to do a another jump in weight, there are plenty of opponent at 168 so I really don't see why he'd move to lhw

Pac is 145 at fight night at Martinez is what, 165 minimum? If Martinez was a weight class smaller the fight would have a very realistic chance of happening.

Too big. Sergio is just too big. You guys do remember that we're talking about a guy who started his career at 112 right?

I agree. Too much weight difference, not much disparity in speed. Sergio is fast too, and he can definitely take shots, much more coming from a smaller guy like Pac.

Pacquiao and Sergio Martinez should not even be mentioned in the same sentence. The Argentinian is just too big for Manny. Not to mention skill and speed. That's like St. Pierre vs Anderson Silva. Both are very skilled but that weight and height difference is the biggest factor. GSP and Manny would probably accept the fight just to please their fellow countrymen but deep down they know they know they only have at most a 10 percent chance of winning.. Well, at least Manny would accept the fight. GSP on the other hand.. :icon_chee

After the Margarito fight, Roach actually said that's about it for Pac fighting a much bigger guy. Something tells him that somehow Pac won't always be lucky to withstand a barrage of heavy punches from a heavier guy. Good that Pac has the speed to offset the difference.

GSP would kill Anderson.

No seriously, GSP isn't that much smaller than AS and he is a stylistic nightmare for him. What a stupid comparison.

Turning pro at 17 and not having a long amateur career. Mosley's camp pointed this out leading up to the fight. At 17 Shane was around that weight too.

No, its not realistic. Martinez would slaughter him and Roach knows it. The fight will never happen. He would also destroy Cotto within 8 rounds. I believe Mayweather is the most skilled fighter i've ever seen on live TV......and Martinez would beat him too. He's too big, too fast, too strong and too skilled.

Martinez hasn't reached his peak yet and he's hungry. He hasn't even been on a damn PPV yet, which is disgraceful for the #2 P4P fighter in the world.

And to the TS....he shouldn't be compared to Margarito. Margarito is slow, one dimensional and came straight at him. Apples and oranges.
