It seems to me that the MMA world hasn’t seen a concentration of talent coming from one place like it has seen come out of Ok. State. It has produced MMA champs such as Randy Couture, Daniel Cormier, Johnny Hendricks, King Mo, and Don Frye. Along with other respectable fighters such as the Rosholt brothers, Shane Roller, Steve Mocco, Mark Munoz and others. I know Arizona State and Ohio State have produced champions as well, but not to the degree of Oklahoma State.

But besides these universities, is there another area that has a great concentration of MMA talent? Certain regions of Dagestan? A favela in Brazil? A neighborhood in Stockton?

Edinboro-Koscheck and Gillespie

Penn State-Davis and Ruth

Missouri- Woodley, Chandler, and Askern

Joe Soto
Colby Covington

Gray Maynard and Rashad Evans were roommates and both wrestled at Michigan State.

I used to think Bettendorf was some kind of magical town that produced top MMA talent.

Yep, us Oklahomans are just a bunch of beasts. That's what happens when you have to fight off tornados everyday. Even earthquakes nowadays caused by fracking via Oklahoman punches. Just so fluid
We're just a tougher breed...

Well, when it comes to American Wrestling and the legacy of American Wrestling, the undisputed greatest wrestling school in United States history is Oklahoma State University.

Oklahoma State has 34 National Titles in wrestling, and according to Wikipedia 3 unofficial titles.

The runner up, Iowa, has 23 for comparison.

As an added note Edward C. Gallagher, the Oklahoma A&M/State coach revolutionized American wrestling, and in large part probably world wrestling.

Omsk in Russia is not some global MMA powerhouse, but former Bellator champs Shlemenko and Koreshkov and UFC prospect Petr Yan are all solid fighters and are all from there. Dennis Siver was born there as well. Pretty respectable list for a not really well-known, poor and remote city.

Omsk is an entire district though. Dagestan has them beat by miles. Impressive nonetheless.
