Is Miocic Wrestling better than it looks?

Is that a takedown? He doesn't even establish control. DC took Stipe down and controlled him for most of the round.
Not a takedown in wrestling.

In MMA, maybe…I guess, since there’s no definition for it.

He completely nullified DC Wrestling, Miocic was never known for his Grappling but this is impressive.

DC it's soo Strong!!

Yes

But I think DC's ability to wrestle effectively was fairly diminished by the time he fought stipe.

The funny thing is, he was initially reluctant to start striking. According to one version of the tale he's told, his coach actually had to threaten to kick him off the team to get him to start sparring. (He's told of his "baptism by fire" into striking several times in interviews, it's pretty funny.) And early on in his training he'd be taking people down and GnPing them, only to have his coach tell him to get up. MMA starts on the feet, he'd say, and insisted on Stipe getting comfortable with boxing.
That’s… weird.. Considering he was a golden glove champ well before starting MMA.

I’m not sure what you mean TS. His wrestling has always looked great

His best wins are Francis and DC. Very good wins but his resume under inspection is not worthy of GOAT status imo.

Jones claim Miocic the HW GOAT if Jones the MMA GOAT say this himself we mortals can't say otherwise.

Before starting professional MMA, that is. He fought 5 amateur MMA fights before he did the Golden Gloves thing.

The coach at Strongstyle likes to have his fighters participate in a few competitions in boxing, jujitsu, etc before they turn pro in MMA. Stipe's not the only one; Aleksa Camur, who recently was released from the UFC, won the Cleveland Golden Gloves three times. But Stipe went on to the nationals, won twice to get into the quarterfinals, then lost to a guy who later went on to fight for a world heavyweight title. All in all not too shabby for someone who practiced purely boxing only for a few months beforehand.

I mean, that's kind of what happened from my recollection. That's not to say he wasn't being competitive, but DC was winning the fight until he started doing that. Then by the third fight he had completely figured DC out.

DC was winning the fight, but not every round. Two out of three judges gave Stipe the 3rd. It wasn't the turn-on-a-dime reversal of fortune like popular myth, Stipe's comeback was actually more of a gradual arc. But yes, the bodyblows of the 4th round (which weren't even the first ones Stipe threw in the fight) were the beginning of the end for DC.

Even old past prime DC is a better wrestler than anyone else in the UFC at HW/LHW aside from JJ, so Stipe showed his wrestling is very effective in MMA.

Stipe started out as a wrestler himself, a pretty good one at that. He was a typical case of a great athlete who discovered a big talent and fell in love with his striking. His grappling moved to the background, but it was always there, available and ready to be re-activated again when needed.
He was golden gloves champion. While golden gloves isn't a huge feat (as far as I know, correct me if I'm wrong), it means he had striking background as well as wrestling

That's all he was for a long time. For most of his 20s he was Dan Bobish's training partner for wrestling, then started boxing for a few months and did golden gloves, and turned pro in MMA when he was nearly 29, and didn't get to the UFC till he was 30.

Stronger than it looks?
His wrestling has always been really good, especially for a Heavyweight. Obviously not on the same level as DC or Randy Couture, but it's really solid. He has a great snatch single.

He was golden gloves IIRC.

Dude was the classic Wrestleboxer. And a pretty fucking good one. Too bad he wasn't as active in his career. I think he would have an even bigger legacy.

Stipe's got some 8/10 wrestling. He can go to that well if he has to. (See Ngannou 1)

lol? u want me to post miocics impressive resume?
the version of fighters he fought would wipe out the entire pride HW division
so whos the HW goat then?

It's hard to say. DC is a great wrestler, but who knows where his body was at for the Stipe trilogy. Obviously Stipe isn't a bad wrestler, but we don't know how elite it is. Ngannou stalled his wrestling in the rematch, but he was in his prime and has a huge strength advantage. I couldn't place Stipe because he fights so infrequently. In fact if Jones rolls him over in wrestling I wouldn't be shocked.

No one lol

When you're tired and getting hurt the skill gap is not as significant in wrestling

Ngannou 2.0 have a Good TDD Reem lose to him in the Clinch and Cain can't Takedown him at all, That just prove how Good Ngannou is.
