Is Mike Perry growing on anyone else?

He's like a good side-dish. Fine in small amounts, but still hasn't made it to entree status quite yet. Still needs more seasoning.
 
Not really.. He’s actually losing steam imo. I see nothing from him to make me think he will ever be a title contender. I don’t eat the hype. He’s a banger. Yay! Go figure... A UFC fighter who likes to throw the leather. I’m astonished!

I can't lie, a little bit. I was the most anti-Platinum dude ever since the whole forced, tryhard meme crap started. It was hack and unfunny. He seems like a complete idiot, but for some reason I kinda like him now, no idea why.

Yeah I do.. And I enjoy watching him fight. But who has he beaten to have this cult following he has? He’s entertaining, but realistically I don’t see him ever being more than a gate keeper, at best. He’ll definitely have some nice ko’s when it’s all said and done tho. But the question is, will they ever be against anyone worth mentioning? Time will tell...

IMO, Perry is a tough kid, guts,chin,power, with sound fundamentals, he’s also not the “sharpest knife in the drawer”. But you’re still shitting on his skill set, the fucker damn neaf ko’d SP in rd 1. He’s no bum, and has more potential then you give him credit for.
 
Perry is no more interesting or promising than any other banger in the UFC.

I can't even understand the attraction at all. There is nothing special about the guy. I think he's more popular with the kids who don't know a lot about the sport, and so they have to glom on to certain personalities to be able to relate, and feel invested while watching it.

We've seen fighters like Perry come, and go since the creation of the UFC.
 
I cant stand to hear him talk but he's entertaining to watch. He reminds me of Leben.

Like I said, I like watching him fight. And I hope he keeps going against higher comp to test his skill set. I’m not shitting on him at all. I merely said I don’t get the hype, in terms of people acting like he is the white Rumble.

He’s good, but great? I don’t think so. Just my humble opinion. Time may prove me wrong.
 
Also, I don't even really consider guys like Perry MMA fighters. They rarely go for anything other than throwing hay-makers.

If you don't have a ground game, you shouldn't be thought of as a real MMA fighter. You're just a special match-up type of character where an organization is better off just placing you with guys who fight just like you, and you can please the Toughman peasants.

Watching guys just stand and try and slam each other in the head, while ignoring getting the worst of it, and refusing to change ranges is just not that interesting.

They need to create a separate league where fighters who just want to stand and bang are not allowed to go to the ground, and the UFC can divert those fans into that promotion.
 
His fights are exciting.

If you don't like him because of his fans, you are a FOOL.
 
Yeah, Plat always brings it... & we don't tune in to watch sparring sessions like way too many of these people do.

Also, it's way to early to count him out as a future top 10 or title contender. He's only 26 & has shown great improvement... I'm sure he will continue to improve.

I also don't count Ponzi's last 2 wins as legit... so there's that too.
 
Yeah he is. I like him in the octagon and in interviews but when he's in front of his opponent the trash talk is just cringey and off putting to me. For this reason I'll probably never 100 percent be a fan
 
He’s like that dog that’s been tied to my back bumper for the last 13 miles, parts of him are clinging on but he’s almost gone.
