Is Marlon Vera the new Tony Ferguson?

Marlon got beat up pretty bad against O’Malley and now he got dropped against Figuiredo. He was also nowhere near competitive against Cory Sandhagen, no way that should’ve been a split decision. He starts too slow and is starting to become a glorified punching bag for skilled strikers
Pretty insulting to Tony

Vera was never as good as Tony

Nah he is just a contender that can't get back into contention. Maybe closer to Yan when he was on that losing streak. Whatever it is. Chito hasn't taken a step down in competition.
Chito a few levels below Yan. Tough guy, but he lacks skills.

I completely agree that he is a few levels below Yan.

I am talking about how his situation is looking now. Chito just dropped two in a row to contenders and champion. He is definitely not in Tony situation where he took a step down in competition and can't still perform. I would even say someone like Paulo is in the similiar of situation as Chito. He didn't lose to the champ but he lost to two former title contenders. Next fight is make or break for those two fighters. They will be moved to gatekeeper status if they lose their next fight.

Vera is fighting all textbook with low output. So not many chances to counter him.
Ferguson fights crazy with bad technique and high output
-> Not the next Tony Ferguson

But his chin certainly degraded after being a punching bag for O Malley for 25 minutes.
Being knocked down by a 5'5 former 125er, who looked 8 pounds lighter at fight night isn't a good sign.

I'm just wondering if that knockdown is the beginning of the end of Vera relying on his chin so damn much.

He's eating a ton of bombs, that one was nothing special, yet for some reason it was the one that knocked him down.

I know Figgy has power, but he's on my watchlist.

If that chin does go, Vera will not be half the fighter.

This is not a big punch.

On the plus side, it's not that bad of a reaction from Chito, he just can't let these creep into his fights. Every time he gets dropped, he'll lose the round.

Bro just needs to learn to pick up the pace and go JustBleed mode

Marlon Vera is the old Josh Koschek

bit early for that. two decision losses against 2 former or current champs. el cucuy still has him by 6 losses.

Okay, now every fighter who has a losing streak is the new "Tony Ferguson".
