Im all for legend/old time vet fights. Some have protested these as being at least meaningless and at most dangerous. So to be clear, I'm fine with old time vets fighting each other, not up-and-coming young bucks.

Unfortunately Ganryujima didn't get that memo. They placed aging legend Tamura (46) against the much younger Jackie Gosh.

I believe it was in the second round that Gosh lands an off-the-platform monster slam. Tamura remains off the platform for several seconds grabbing his head as Ganryujima employees readjust the lights it appears his head just slammed into. Tamura continues the fight but it is clear his head continues to hurt as he grabs it several times during the post fight winner announcement, especially near his temple, and does several jaw stretches. I didn't like the incident and I'm wondering if Tamura is okay. Anyone heard anything?

He's got 3 broken bones in his nose and cheeks and he was going to go through immediate surgery to reconstruct his face. However, Tamura decided to prolong the surgery and do the Rizin show as he originally planned. Sakakibara says they might provide Tamura's head with protective gear even though this is gonna be just grappling.

Damn. Get the guy his surgery. I'm sure they can find another worth grappling partner for Wandy in Japan. How about Uno?

Sakakibara "we might have to face moral concerns and criticism for allowing a severely injured person to fight in our ring, but we respected Tamura's decision to dedicate the remaining course of his career to Japanese MMA.

Tamura also mentioned Nobuhiko Takada as his reason not to skip Rizin event.

Yes, they will face criticism. Sheesh. Different culture though. If a man wants to go out on his shield they will certainly let him it sounds like.

Is this tag grappling match going to set up an eventual rematch with Sakuraba or will Tamura turn on Wanderlei and that will be the rematch?

It will be a tag team grappling match. Nothing more, nothing less.

I hope this weird grappling match that I'll totally watch doesn't spawn MMA rematches.

So it's Tokoro & Saku vs Wand & Tamura?
Looks like Andre Dida left his place to Tokoro, I'm cool with both.

But damn, Tamura can't fight if that report is accurate. Is Takada still butthurt about him?

And I knew this smoke-filled pit was a disaster waiting to happen...

I love to watch MMA japanese fighters that I watch real fights have, have some fun in a not very dangerous and since Saku and Wand are old friend, will be pretty light mood-wise, or would be if one of the fighters didn't have a serious nose injury... they will protect it with head gear?
Or is that for the broken cheek?

I don't want to watch that, Tamura isn't enjoying this how can I have fun watching him knowing that...
They could probably find another aging japanese popular fight who loves pro wrestling, they are not lacking in this department.
I would have loved to see Yoshida fight alongside Wand after the 2 amazing brawls they gave us in PRIDE.

Or plenty of other guys

I didn't find much on Tamura's injury, anyone has more?
