Is Kamaru Usman GOAT WW if he beats Burns?

Everyone here has already expressed my thoughts on the subject, but I notice a lot of people dis Hardy and Condit a lot. You guys understand that literally every fighter has prime years, right? Hardy and Condit were both legit title contenders with great records when they fought GSP. You can't look at what an opponent has accomplished AFTER they fought someone as a reliable metric of evaluation. Some wins age better than others, but it all comes back to how good they were when they fought.

Lol at comparing Lawler who was gifted wins against Condit and Hendricks to Usman. GSP has more top 10 wins but the division was weaker, Dan Hardy challenged for the title lmao.

Bad argument. GSP fought the #1 contender at the time every fight for 8 years. Of course challengers get better over time, but you have to judge people on their accomplishments. The 2030 WW champ will be fighting people 10x better than Colby, Burns, Mas

Yup is say so. His body of work is more impressive than GSP.

GSP loses to Leon and Burns and probably Colby

lol... WW is the weakest its been as a division ever.

But go on with the narrative that Usman has a better resume than GSP.

Kids, will never learn. Wins are not the same as title defenses, not to mention alot of his "wins streak" were against middle of the road fighters.(read everyone else comments for the list) He has such a long way to go it's almost sad to even make this a thread. It's so easy to see the guy fighting now as the greatest bc GSP hasn't fought in so long, but he DOMINATED everyone he fought, except hendricks. GSP barely lost a round throughout his entire career. OMG i'm so over this, again i get sucked into another GOAT thread.

Is that a joke? He isn't close to GSP at this point.

Wtf...

I mean, I could even understand a little if he had 3 title defenses but they were against incredible fighters. But his will be Colby (a legit title level guy), Masvidal (an aging journeyman) and Burns (a blown up LW with plenty of losses).

GSP has way more title defenses and they are against way better fighters (Hughes, Shields, BJ, etc.) The two aren’t even comparable yet. If Usman can defend 3 or 4 more times after Burns, then we will have a real debate.

If he wins, he's passing Shields and take a solid 3rd place behind GOAT St-Pierre and Hughes.

Yeah, but so did Kos, Fitch, BJ, Hughes etc all in their respective primes. All of those guys would be Top 10 today too. Usman is closing in on GSP but it's gonna take another couple quality wins over Burns, maybe Wonderboy and obviously Chimev before he proves himself worthy of GOAT status.

We need a GOAT subsection to post all these nonsensical threads and stop clogging up the main one. I come here looking for news, not new threads based entirely on opinion.

Masvidal just challenge for the title lol.

Usman would get picked apart by peak Rory and eaten alive by prime GSP

Willing to bet he'd lose to young Shields, Palhares and Fitch. Prime Hughes would be a close fight

Well roundedness doesn't matter. If it matters so much, then how about Usman's previous defense was against Maia?
But there's a difference because Maia is an anomaly, his BJJ is so good he can hang with guys without being well rounded. Hardy was a decent striker, but nothing special. He's no Adesanya

Let’s be honest now, Usman if a far superior fighter than GSP.

GSP’s record is padded with title defenses against guys like Dan Hardy and Condit lol... it’s a different era and WW is one of the divisions that has evolved.
Lol yeah the Masvidals and RDAs and Cerrones are much superior! ROFL! Buncha LWs from GSP's era breaking into the top10 at WW past their primes.... That much evolved division!
