Is Jon's toe a problem?

We didn't need to see that

Doesn't seem to really affect him after the fight. He may just be more aware of the potential injury again so he tapes it out of precaution. Also might not put so much force and pressure on it anymore during grappling exchanges since he broke it when it was healthy so regardless of the injury, what he was doing before caused it to break. Seems like the way he flexed his toes together and putting his weight on the mat is what caused the initial break. It may be a natural reaction for him to flex his toes together and it may be more prone to injury barefooted compared to when he wore wrestling shoes. Overall he isn't as creative as he was before, even in his striking. He still kicks and everything with his leg/foot so he doesn't seem to have the mental block with the injury.

Lots of fighters shatter their hands/knuckles and have compound fractures with small toes/fingers and have been able to fight normally afterwards. Those are easier to break since the bones are smaller. As long as it healed correctly or healed well enough it should be fine. If it didn't, those require rebreaks to fix the alignment.

Hey, now that Jones wants all his infractions reviewed and overturned, can we change the result of this one? Since if the ref caught that, it would have been stopped

Would it? I'm not being facetious - like, in soccer the ref can rule advantage and let the game play on after a foul if the fouled team came out on top. Would they break up a fight where the injured guy is just pummeling the other like in this fight?

A ref? Eh.. I'm sure they can allow whatever and make a stupid reason for it. But the cageside doctor would not or should not let a bout continue go on like that though. White even seems to have said the same after the fight, but I know he's not exactly prime source material.

I dont think she is...wait...you said toe?

If anything it's possibly there just to give him some mental peace. When you get a freak injury like that, it can be hard to trust it not to do it again going forward. The added support of the tape both helps physically, and to give him peace of mind and not hesitate on it.

Yes he’s always taped it since then, but probably more out of precaution than anything else. Lots of guys who have knee injuries wear sleeves the rest of their career. Gronk wore an arm sleeve after breaking his arm for the whole second half of his career and it never slowed him down.

I don't think the doctor even has the right to come into the cage let alone stop a fight unless the ref calls him in. But the ref would have called him in knowning he was going to stop it or stopped the fight himself with that obvious of an injury.

And people were wondering why Gane was training heel hooks! Spoiler - it's not the HEEL he's going to be targeting!

I’m gonna start calling him JonToe, got a nice ring to it

He still taped it for the Reyes fight. Does something like that heal or does it bother you for life?

Is this why he doesn't wrestle? Was watching some old fights and he really used to splay out on his big toes a lot.
See you get it, all the Jones haters fail to mention this. Great post.

Jones injured toe has affected his ability to take people down at will like he use to. It also has effected his ability to defend the take down.

This is the biggest reason Jones has looked like shit in almost all his fights after the Chael fight.

This is the main reason he struggled with Gus in their first fight because Jones fought Gus only a few months after breaking his toe.

If I was Chael I would’ve grabbed the toe and tore it right off and won by TKO

Chael is the most unlucky fighter in all of MMA. If he survives one round in 2 of his UFC championship fights, he wins by decision. Silva and Jones. Lmfao. Chael…

Gane via toe hold, it's a lock!
That's why he's been drilling heel hooks on the UFC embedded, to obfuscate the actual gameplan of Imanari roll into toe hold.
It probably hurts him when it’s cold outside or when it rains.
You're speaking to my back pain in real time.

Huh? Has he come out and tried to claim something about some levels being naturally elevated?
Jon seems like such a cheater I'm surprised he hasn't tried to microwave his own pituitary gland.
