Machida out struck Jones. He dropped Machida with a literal superman punch and nothing more. Machida was already done. He mentally checked out after the elbows on the ground
Jones did not beat Shogun at Shogun's strengths either. He took Shogun down and mauled the shit out of him on the ground. He landed some standing shots in the clinch up against the fence too. But in the middle of the ring Jones did not outstrike Shogun

Jones took Glover to where he was weakest. On the inside. Glover is nothing but a right hand. Jones went inside to smoother his right hand. It was the correct gameplan, but dont ever sit there and try to twist that into Jones beating glover at his own strength. Glover has a shit inside game. Hes all about throwing his right hand, where you can easily avoid it by being out of range or by being all the way in on him, smoothering it on the inside.
DC was also wrecking Jones in the first fight, for the first couple rounds, in-tight
via grabbing a collar tie and uppercutting with his free hand.
Jones didn't know what to do until his corner told him to go 2 on 1 on DC's free hand to stop DC from being able to hold and hit
