He said he likes the English pronunciation "Gain" because it makes him feel American. As someone who's travelled a lot I can relate. When people say your name the way they normally would it kinda feels like you get rebaptised and accepted into the culture. Whereas when they go out of their way to pronounce your name in the native way it's just kinda lame and it seems like they're trying to be politically correct. There's so much fear of being perceived as xenophobic these days.
