It's hard to keep the narrative straight because one group of people says he's uncaring and doesn't feel anything while the other group says he's afraid of everything and feels insecure.

Well narcissists either have fragile egos and are prone to vindictive behavior and low self esteem (vulnerable narcissist), or have near impenetrable egos with elevated sense of self importance (grandiose narcissist). Jones probably isn't afraid of anything, but he will try to avoid responsibility and displays low levels of empathy. He was probably more sorry he got caught with the pregnant lady hit and run than he was sorry for actually hitting her.

Since Daniel Cormier recently said he believes so, I wanted to ask Sherdog and see what Sherdog's opinion on the matter is.

A psychopath is generally considered to be someone who suffers from one of the psychopathic (cluster-b) personality disorders which are Antisocial Personality Disorder, Narcissistic Personality Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder.

All three disorders have the "lack of empathy" symptom, which is why they are considered psychopathic/sociopathic.

Hundreds of thousands of people have these disorders, it doesn't make them killers. Serial killers and violent offenders only make up a small percentage of these people. But most psychopaths, although don't have empathy, still wouldn't kill someone obviously.

All psychopaths have a much higher IQ than the average person but usually don't put it to use.
However, if we compare to serial killers,

- Most serial killers have antisocial personality disorder.
- Certain cases they may have the other two. Some major examples are Ted Bundy (Narcissistic Personality) and Jeffrey Dahmer (Borderline Personality).
- Its possible to have more than one. Serial killer, Andrei Chikatilo was diagnosed with ALL THREE psychopathic disorders.

Jones seems somewhat of a Narcissist. I would guess NPD with Borderline traits. His self destructive behavior, reckless acts, damaging acts, prone to violence, prone to angry, short fuse, etc. Classic NPD / Borderline Personality.

People throw around "sociopath" and "psychopath" around too often

I think he just has a substance abuse issue, if he was completely sober I doubt he would ever have these problems. Same with Conor, and a loooot of people out there
Yeah noone really knows what those terms mean. I don't think you can even be diagnosed as a psychopath or sociopath. They are a set of traits everyone has a certain degree of.

Don't know but his actions outside the ring have confirmed him to be a POS human being.

I tend to think of most things that way, but if someone is a sociopath doesn't that mean they feel 0 empathy at all? I get empathy is on a spectrum and some people have really low empathy, but aren't sociopaths people with 0 empathy? Like they could sell their mother for $10 and not care?

I think it's they can understand how others feel, while not necessarily feeling those feelings. It's why Ted Bundy was able to lure people to his car with his whole "broken arm" schtick, because he knew it'd garner sympathy, but if he saw someone in the same situation, he wouldn't give 2 shits unless it was a woman he could use for his own gratification.

he absolutely is. he has no empathy, utter disregard for other people's well-being.

Nah man Jon was just staying active.

most likely yes. biggest gift and curse for him. more so than his physical gifts.

99% of fighters (except tony) would have quit when Vitor had that armbar locked in. Jones came back and subbed him.

That's what I came in here to say. He's just getting drunk and high too much when you do that all you care about is yourself. Take the booze and drugs away these problems would go with it.
