Since Daniel Cormier recently said he believes so, I wanted to ask Sherdog and see what Sherdog's opinion on the matter is.

A psychopath is generally considered to be someone who suffers from one of the psychopathic (cluster-b) personality disorders which are Antisocial Personality Disorder, Narcissistic Personality Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder.

All three disorders have the "lack of empathy" symptom, which is why they are considered psychopathic/sociopathic.

Hundreds of thousands of people have these disorders, it doesn't make them killers. Serial killers and violent offenders only make up a small percentage of these people. But most psychopaths, although don't have empathy, still wouldn't kill someone obviously.

All psychopaths have a much higher IQ than the average person but usually don't put it to use.
However, if we compare to serial killers,

- Most serial killers have antisocial personality disorder.
- Certain cases they may have the other two. Some major examples are Ted Bundy (Narcissistic Personality) and Jeffrey Dahmer (Borderline Personality).
- Its possible to have more than one. Serial killer, Andrei Chikatilo was diagnosed with ALL THREE psychopathic disorders.

Jones seems somewhat of a Narcissist. I would guess NPD with Borderline traits. His self destructive behavior, reckless acts, damaging acts, prone to violence, prone to angry, short fuse, etc. Classic NPD / Borderline Personality.

Sounds accurate to me. His eyes give it away, there is no one back there.

*By this, I mean he is gauging your reaction to what he says... not what he really feels.

**Also, not gonna vote, because I don't think it's a matter of popular opinion... but medical diagnosis.

Jon is a very complex character, I believe the best fighters are.

He has definitely done some things that run against society and is fairly a narcissist.

Soooooooooo read these and pick out which one Jones is:

Antisocial personality disorder is a type of chronic mental condition in which a person's ways of thinking, perceiving situations and relating to others are dysfunctional — and destructive. People with antisocial personality disorder typically have no regard for right and wrong and often disregard the rights, wishes and feelings of others.

Those with antisocial personality disorder tend to antagonize, manipulate or treat others either harshly or with callous indifference. They may often violate the law, landing in frequent trouble, yet they show no guilt or remorse. They may lie, behave violently or impulsively, and have problems with drug and alcohol use. These characteristics typically make people with antisocial personality disorder unable to fulfill responsibilities related to family, work or school.

Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental disorder in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for admiration and a lack of empathy for others. But behind this mask of ultraconfidence lies a fragile self-esteem that's vulnerable to the slightest criticism.

A narcissistic personality disorder causes problems in many areas of life, such as relationships, work, school or financial affairs. You may be generally unhappy and disappointed when you're not given the special favors or admiration you believe you deserve. Others may not enjoy being around you, and you may find your relationships unfulfilling.

Borderline personality disorder is a mental health disorder that impacts the way you think and feel about yourself and others, causing problems functioning in everyday life. It includes a pattern of unstable intense relationships, distorted self-image, extreme emotions, self-harm and impulsiveness.

With borderline personality disorder, you have an intense fear of abandonment resulting in stormy relationships, and you may have difficulty tolerating being alone. Yet inappropriate anger, impulsiveness and frequent mood swings may push others away, even though you want to have loving and lasting relationships.

Borderline personality disorder usually begins by early adulthood. The condition seems to be worse in young adulthood and may gradually get better with age. Although approximately 10% of borderlines commit suicide.

If you have borderline personality disorder, don't get discouraged. Many people with this disorder get better over time with treatment and can learn to live satisfying lives.

I think he might be and I've wondered that aloud here before.

I voted yes but how the hell would I know? I'm neither qualified to make that determination nor do I know JJ personally at all, let alone well enough to to think it's reasonably possible.

Based on a completely unqualified opinion and having never even spoken with him, yes he's undoubtedly a sociopath.

all of the armchair PhDs will come out in full force for this one. should be an entertaining thread

This is the second time this exact same thread has been posted.

LOL, exactly.

I love the way the thread starts out, "well, since Daniel Cormier thinks so...."

Yeah, noted Harvard psychotherapy consulting doctor of psychology, Daniel Cormier, PhD. If he says so, it must be true.

Are you diagnosing somebody you have never met ? Wow this is the strangest post I have seen yet not only does everybody think they are MMA analyst but not we have our own shrink

I don't think he is.
In fact, to actually qualify for the official diagnosis, you must have a diagnose-able conduct disorder as an adolescent, which I think he does not.
