Is Johnny Walker the next Jimi Manuwa?

He'll still be in a lot of fun fights, but I think the 'man to expose Jones' talk will likely die a swift death now.

Someone who’s got big power, but also a horrible chin. No offence to Walker but who the fuck gets obliterated by Corey Anderson like that? He made Corey look like Rumble with how badly he was flailing around after getting rocked.

People are overreacting to Walker losing. Regardless of whether Walker had won or lost he wasn't getting a title shot yet. The truth is a lot more simple than people want to admit. Walker had spent less than 3 minutes in a UFC cage and after a seven month layoff a was fighting an extremely competent and notoriously boring fighter with well over a hundred minutes.

Anderson was pretty much the worst possible fighter for a guy in Walkers situation. He was never gonna let himself get KOd and was prepared to put on an extremely boring fight that he knew would go his way. Walker after dancing around got frustrated, moved in way too close too Anderson, and let his guard down. For a guy like Anderson whose used to dancing around for an entire fight and rarely ever sees an opponent that doesn't have his hands up that was perfect and he connected with a kill shot right away.

I was impressed that Walker got back up after taking that first blow and fought back. There are very few fighters that wouldn't have been knocked unconscious after taking that first big shot. The fight should have been over after that first shot Anderson landed. Anyone saying Walker has a glass chin doesn't understand fighting, the guy absorbed repeated power shots and was still trying to overpower Anderson.

The stoppage was also very strange, Walker was pretty clearly unsteady on his feet at several points after Andersons first big shot, yet the ref decided to stop it when Walker was completely steady on his feet and able to defend. Not saying Walker could have won that fight, but acting like Anderson pulled off some epic victory when he couldn't knock walker unconscious despite landing so many power shots is laughable.

Ultimately this will probably be a good thing for Walker, he needs to get some more time in the cage to get truly comfortable and experience a full fight. The guy up to now was basically a trick shot artist. Hes still capable of those same trick shots, but he needs to fight with guys who arent going to give him those openings in the first twenty seconds.

this fight had nothing to do with Jones though. Jones' pillowfistedness is his version of Walker's soft chin.

Anyhoo, it was a crap stoppage but also a crap performance by Walker as he legit got tagged many time by Corey Anderson (barf).

The nice thing for JW though is holy cray did he still look amazing in certain ways. The way he shrugged off the wrestling was some high schooler vs middle schooler shit.

But yeah definitely Walker and Manuwa could both be classified as textbook glass cannons.

Both their knees buckled when this thread was started and got dropped every time a response was made.

End of the day, Walker got his chin rocked by a guy who only has 4 stoppages and has been KO'd himself a few times. I thought he was the real deal but not anymore. Attention turns to Rakic.

He can either get better defense, or use more pressure offense as his defense. He isn't one who can fight a traditional style and be great that way.. He needs to come out with crazy offense.

Glass chin ?! He got hit by a big overhand on his temple, that makes anyone lose balance and get rocked. Then Corey was able to follow up with proper caution/aggression and not let him recover but wasn't able to put him out with the shots.
It showed a defensive flaw, not a glass chin.
