They haven’t done a good job of marketing him. If UFC fans were aware that he supports Andrew Tate and that he defended Dana after the wife-slapping, he’d probably have a larger fanbase.

EVER!? Of course not. He is a legitimate UFC champion. Glover Texeira was a tough UFC veteran of championship caliber, and Hill made him look bad.

Does he lack hype right now? Of course. The former champion (Jiri) wasn't defeated but vacated due to injury, and this is 205 which will carry the shadow of Jon Jones over it for a while. But Hill will gain some serious hype if he beats Jiri and looks good doing it.

No shit, Jan is clearly the least hyped champ, probably in UFC history. He had to hype himself. Dana was hoping Jan would lose every fight he was in, he was literally sent in to lose against Rockhold, Souza, Corey Anderson, Reyes, and Izzy. He was supposed to be the stepping stone for all of them.
