Is Jack Slack overrated?

Not around here.

I enjoy his articles. They're well written and laid-out, and he knows a lot more about striking than me. He and Ben Fowlkes are the only MMA writers that I regularly read.

Typical Jack Slackjaw article:

"Hurr Durr Fighter A(the heavy favorite) should beat Fighter B because he's revolutionizing the sport!

*Insert countless irrelevant gifs*

Derp But I wouldn't be surprised if Fighter B wins...

The End"

I like what he does. Connor Mc Ruebusch is good too

I have never read a full Jack Slack analysis article in my life no joking I swear to god

I don't remember Jack Slack ever making a prediction.

Post analysis is better than pre-analysis

But even that is just stating the obvious

he's good but I prefer some better presentations on youtube

He has a good eye for individual techniques and tendencies, but he's a terrible writer in desperate need of a proofreader and a fact checker.

Slack does great analysis
is Sonnen over rated for all of his incorrect predictions?
I don;t think so

this is mma
hopefully there are fights that are hard to predict :)

Who the fuck rates Sonnen at all at anything.

He is almost the definition of overrated. If he went public I think a lot of people around here would be surprised by his lack of martial arts credentials and accolades.

he's good at pointing out techniques but he's not that great at seeing the overall skill set of a fighter in my opinion. i don't think he has that great of an eye for how fights will play out. he described everything about both Dillashaw and Cruz, and from his analysis of both fighters it'd seem the logical pick to win would've been Cruz, as long as he showed up the same as he was against Mizugaki.

but instead he chose Dillashaw, even after talking about how Dillashaw takes chances and hangs out in the pocket more, less defensively sound etc.,

it just seemed odd to pick Dillashaw because he was younger and powerful after all the other things he said about Dillashaw's style.

But then there are gameplans. It was a very even fight and f.e. if TJ would have incorporated his kicks from the beginning he might have won handily.
Imo that is not a fight to judge someone because of a wrong prediction.
