Do you think that Slacky ist overrated?
He often states obvious facts and rarely makes predictions. When he makes predictions, they are usually wrong (McGregor-Diaz, Cruz-Dillashaw).

The only thing he does is, that he explains techniques .

Discuss.

He's P4P at using GIFs though.

I like how he explains techniques and uses gifs to backup what he's saying because most people especially on sherdog just state obvious facts like "fighter A is good at wrestling, fighter B has good at cardio etc." when they're analyzing fights.

I'm not sure why this kind of thread doesn't get you banned instantly.

He's past his prime and can't take a shot anymore, plus his competition was never that good to begin with.

That's his thing.

Most people's predictions are wrong.

Your expectations are wacky.

He knows a lot about striking for sure too bad MMA is not all about striking

He's usually spot on with style and technique matchups. Which to a fan, is all you really can work with.

His overall prediction on McGregor Diaz may have been wrong, but he was spot on about how Diaz would win.
He was also spot on about the challenges McGregor would face.
The fact that Conor couldn't come up with a good gameplan...well that's a lot harder to predict than comparing styles and technique matchups. Can't blame the guy for that.
He did say it'd be competitive, which is far more correct than all the pundits and oddsmakers that called a blowout.

I don't blame him for Cruz Dillashaw either. Nobody in their right mind would have picked Cruz, not without inside knowledge of how his training was going at a minimum.

Slack does great analysis
is Sonnen over rated for all of his incorrect predictions?
I don;t think so

this is mma
hopefully there are fights that are hard to predict :)

I still wonder why he remains anonymous though...

Imagine if a few legit strikers(current and former champions) use the same account to write and proofread articles as Jack Slack.

he's good at pointing out techniques but he's not that great at seeing the overall skill set of a fighter in my opinion. i don't think he has that great of an eye for how fights will play out. he described everything about both Dillashaw and Cruz, and from his analysis of both fighters it'd seem the logical pick to win would've been Cruz, as long as he showed up the same as he was against Mizugaki.

but instead he chose Dillashaw, even after talking about how Dillashaw takes chances and hangs out in the pocket more, less defensively sound etc.,

it just seemed odd to pick Dillashaw because he was younger and powerful after all the other things he said about Dillashaw's style.

Slack does a superior job imo. Browse the guy's archives. He's probably
forgotten more than most of us will ever learn about the art of fighting. You
don't have to peruse very long to realize he's a well read student of the game. What most people overlook, he observes fastidiously. His breakdown's are geared for all levels of MMA knowledge. I can't find anything to criticize.

His older stuff is really good, though he's jumped the shark during recent years though.

I like his analysis but yeah he's a bit hyped up.

You want a straight answer, go watch Khabib's analysis and predictions. He gets it right most of the time and pretty much just breaks it down into the most basic of thoughts.

Oh hey a fighter did a thing here's a .gif of olde-timey boxers doing something that looks a bit similar if you squint your eyes, therefore it's an unstoppable old school technique.
