Is it true that Du Plessis was a better kickboxer than Adesanya?

Du plessis is a former kickboxer... before starting MMA he became 2012 W.A.K.O. World Champion -86kg . From what I know Adesanya never won any world title in kickboxing.

Whatever the case, Dricus' kickboxing credentials are what make me think so highly of him, considering he has more sub finishes than TKO. He's well rounded, with a style that is hard to figure out, and doesn't rely on his "thing" to win. Shades of Reem, although his kickboxing credentials aren't as high as Reems and he's probably more well rounded than Reem, overall.

Wouldn't doubt it honestly. People have to remember, DDP just got his breathing issues solved. That means he fought in combat sports like Rory MacDonald fought Lawler in the Championship Rounds, strictly just breathing through his mouth only. That's un freaking real.

I see DDP beating Izzy anyway he wants honestly. I know people may give me shit for that, but idc. DDP is a different breed, he's not Costa, he's not Cannonier, he's not Marvin, he's not Romero... He's just different. I could easily see him Finishing Izzy with strikes or finishing Izzy by Sub.

I think DDP just has to do what Gastelum did better, and probably mix in takedowns on top of it. If it was DDP vs Izzy in a kickboxing match only, it would probably be so one sided. Smaller gloves give DDP more of a threat with power to his standup. Question is if Izzy tags him enough to stifle the aggression, he'll be stuck sitting on the outside having a points battle which Izzy will easily win.

OP.

Have you even watched DDP fight? The fucker is a stiff.

At the moment, Izzy is a massive favourite to pound his face in.

Izzy competed against Alex Pereira who was the only Glory 2 division champ in history. Pretty easy to see who's the better kickboxer

After getting KOd Izzy ran off to China to fight lesser competition.
Alex stood and beat the guys that beat him and became 2 weight class champion.

Damn good analysis sir.

He means who's the better kickboxer between Izzy and Dricus bro, not Alex.

What's his KB record? Would be exciting to see DuPlessis make a move to LHW and go after Pereira, Hill, Jiri.

Even if he were nothing we’ve seen in the UFC gives any indication. He’s not refined but it works for him.

Ray Charles can see Dricus du Plessis < Israel Adesanya as a pure kickboxer.

However, Ray Charles can also see that du Plessis is a physically-stronger, rougher, tougher man than Israel Adesanya.

du Plessis made Robert Whittaker look like a teenage boy, on the ground, literally manhandling him. Adesanya was beta on the ground, in the second fight, when Whittaker took him down.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that, if Dricus du Plessis takes Adesanya down, Adesanya is in trouble. du Plessis has already intimated that his main goal is to "get his hands on" Adesanya, and make it a rough/tough grappling-fest.

That said, I do believe Dricus du Plessis has enough technical skill, as an experienced striker + the stronger man, to impose himself on Adesanya, and get him to the ground.

If the foregoing comes to pass, I think Dricus definitely can finish Adesanya.

As far as the Paulo Costa comparisons go, I think Dricus is tougher, smarter, and rougher than Costa — who basically "choked in the headlights" when he faced Adesanya.

I don't think Dricus du Plessis will choke when he faces Adesanya.

He rose to the occasion and decimated Whittaker.

He did but overall, I'd say Izzy is the better kickboxer and fought better competition. Dricus can hold his own on the feet tho and has a big advantage in grappling. He will get it done.

Its funny because I really don't care who wins this one.

He's a better kickboxer than anyone Izzy has faced outside Poatan, but it won't be a kickboxing fight.
DDP by sub in <10 minutes
