Both men and women who complain about the lack of decent partners aren't usually "decent" themselves either. They're the type of people who blame everybody else for their problems instead of taking responsibility for their own happiness. They're negative and are quick to see faults in others because they're too scared to explore their own. If everybody you meet is a jerk, maybe the problem is you.

It probably is hard for them. But they make it much harder than it has to be because they can’t see past their evolutionary need to compete with other women for what they perceive is the “best” man. Many of them constantly date assholes who treat them like shit because they perceive that treatment and disposition as strength. They see men who are dangerous and have a biological need to tame them because they incorrectly assume if they are the special girl in his life, they will he kept safe by his violent behavior.
