I rarely advocate celebrating another human beings hardship, but I am glad that the punishment on Jones was harsh.

The usual people I'm happy to see "get theirs" are the usual suspects (rapist,:eek::eek::eek:s, murderers, racist, etc.), but Jones doesn't fit in those categories obviously. So I asked myself why am I so happy that his punishment held up?

The answer for me is that I greatly value sportsmanship and respecting your opponents. There are a set of rules laid out for everyone to follow and it's pretty simple. Some will argue that "everyone" dopes in MMA and blah, blah, blah, but the truth is that there is ONE set of rules. Not a set of rules that you adjust or tweak based on what others are doing, but ONE clear set of rules. When you cheat/break these rules it effects those trying "to do it the right way" and that is the reason I'm glad he got slammed.

I'm sorry the sport of MMA has a stigma of "all fighters are on PED", but this won't change if fighters are using it as an excuse to continue cheating. Yes there were A LOT of cheaters in the past and that fact tarnished a lot of my favorite fighters for me, but I love the sport of MMA and am highly invested in it so of course I want it to be viewed as a clean sport.

Agree and understand.

The claim that "all fighters are on PEDs" is no more than a conspiracy theory of tinfoil hat wearers.

Cheaters must be punished and their legacy tarnished.

I'm fan of fighters, so no

"I am a successful human being and successful human beings do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others"
McG

So, if a boxer enter in a ring with loaded gloves and perma damage the rival.. you will not celebrate the punishment for being a cheater?

It's bad for the sport not to have Jones around. He's a draw. It also sucks we don't get to see him fight. He had to be punished and that's the way it is, but if you're "happy" about this whole situation you're weird and stupid.

Honestly I just want him to be suspended until DC is well and truly retired. DC will try to fight him again if he comes back soon and my heart couldn't take that. I don't think Jon will ever fight clean and the stylistic matchup is pretty fucked for DC. Unless Jon would return a shadow of himself DC would need to fight a basically perfect fight to win.

Consequently, I'll celebrate a sizeable suspension.

I dont think he has been punished yet.

The one that counts is the USADA hearing.

And its not really a matter of celebrating or not, its a matter of seeing the rules enforced, even when its not good for the business or sport bc Jones is the most dominating fighter of our time. It sucks to lose him, but most of us are peons and we want to know the rules apply to everyone.

Jones isn't being thrown in prison though is he? he's just being refused the chance to carry on his career and earn more money, the man still has a very rich and comfortable life.

Weird and stupid drives the traffic on this site lol

I’m not happy about Jones punishment. The thing that really struck me is how much he didn’t take responsibility for anything. He put everything off on management, friends, being young. He never took ownership of a single thing. And has not taken any steps to correct his actions. The lack of contrition is what really surprised me. I don’t think he’s learned a single thing.

I don’t revel in others’ misfortune, but i do believe in fair punishment.

I don't think it's fair to celebrate what is prolly the greatest talent the sports has ever seen be sidelined for any period of time. Whether he did steroids or not is a different question, but there's no denying the UFC brand is hurt when a guy like Jones can't get out of his own way which is costing him years of his career that could one day be considered the career of a GOAT

Normally no for most people. However, it's known that juice jones is not a nice guy and it's such a weasel. He acts all nice for the cameras but he legit seems like a sociopath or something, he just lies all the time and only cares about himself. I'm happy that he gets punished/embarrassed like this but at the same time this delays him losing to gus while clean

He is a piece of trash as a person, so he deserves to be trashed.

It's too early, I read the thread title and thought "What happened to Joanna!"

If only USADA could have been around at like 2006 or so, would there have even been a Silva era? We'd all celebrate all the amazing finishes he wouldn't have because he'd basically be suspended for life by now?

Strange.

Exactly this, JJ fucked other peoples career even abandonded a preggo lady and run. How can you not want him to be punished... Sure i dont want him to be miserable but he did derail other people and hand out ass whoppins while being roided to the gills so he deserves all he got.
