I find it strange that Mcgregor announces his retirement over social media. And that the UFC pulled him because of his supposed "refusal" to do promotional work, when the guy has historically done everything the UFC has asked of him.

Personally, I think something else is going on and I don't think it's over money or refusal to do promotional work. I think people here can figure it out.

i think if you make a ped accusation you should just say it instead of being a pussy about it

There would have to be a good reason for allegedly "retiring" and refusing to show up to conferences when you would have been making the money Mcgregor would have made. Even if the reports are true that Mcgregor is so money hungry that he demanded obscene amounts, do you think someone that greedy would feel it's the right decision to not only walk away from a huge money fight but to leave the game in his prime in general?

If you were that concerned over money the idea of retiring would be preposterous.

He retired, but it wasn't over money. I think it was self preservation.

Yep..... the fear of getting Stockton slapped to death made him retired.....

Possibly, apparently he was cageside for the fight in which Joao Carvalho passed away.

Edit: Or yes, PED's violation as you are referring to.

Well the guy that shows up no matter what just showed us how full of shit and hot air he was. I've said all along that the meteoric rise will only be matched by the meteoric fall.

Out of curiosity, does the USADA have to announce positive findings about fighters, or merely report them to the employer?

I'm still clinging to the hope that this is a fake out and they offered him GSP's return fight.
Not really but

If it's USADA than it's true the new drug testing is destroying the sport. USADA is not going well in the transitional phase if everyone is getting caught and affected by it. It has to be done in a more leniant way instead of this head on colision.

Machida got caught for passing some anti aging cream, Anderson for viagra and if Conor is caught by something, I don't think it's something serious also.

It could be a number of different things.. USADA testing, Him seeing that guy die last week. I think is more than likely is mostly about money though, he is obsessed with it and always talking about money. He will be back in few years when he has ran out of money, he will be back begging to UFC

Retiring off a loss isn't really self-preservation.

Maybe he think his underpaid? Look at what Paqiao got for his last fight, and nobody watched it. McGregor's the biggest active PPV star in the sport, but he still isn't making close to boxing money.

High cholesterol?

He realized that Nate Diaz and his ultra fanboys are the most unbeatable force in the universe
