Will Muscle Milk still be effective if I take it before a cardio and calisthenic workout. Or is it just to take before lifting?

I never use it pre-workout, but that's just me.

I've tried is post workout, which recommended to me by a friend that bodybuilds, and it did work well for recovery.

In an article in www.bodybuildingforyou.com I read that its better pre workout but what I want to know is if it is good to take it before cardio and calisthenics. Explain your reasons why please. Thanx.

I never tried Muscle Milk pre-workout, but I noticed that having too many liquids before a workout makes me cramp more. I usually try to stick to more solids like bananas or some brown rice. I read that having a shake 2 hours prior to your workout is ok, but 8 oz lean meats or chicken was better. I think it may affect everyone differntly.

You don't need that much protein pre-workout.

If you're going longer than an hour, down some diluted gatorade, accelerade, or apple juice.

I tried it pre workout (weights followed by kickboxing) a couple of days ago just because I drank it as a meal on the go almost. Actually I felt a bit sluggish with it in me while working out.

I take it afterwards, for recovery, it is too heavy for me to take right before any hard workout

hell if you really want to wast money try taking it before and after. If your trying to gain performance and maintain muscle mass, then i would definatly say a shake before hand might not be that bad of an idea. your body will be burning the freshly consumed protien instead of your muscles while doing intense cardio activity.

i wouldnt take muscle milk, or any liquid or food for that matter atleast 1hr up to something like running or general cardio... It'll just make you cramp up. I normally just take a few sips of gatorade before running/wrestling/conditioning practice then more sips during, and some more after. Then at home i have a protein shake.

No it won't, for the reason that casein clumps in your stomach and therefore is very slowly digested. It's too slow to be digested, filtered, broken down further, and fully assimilated to be used for this purpose.

Accellerade is probably one of the best things to take pre-workout and even during because it has just a tiny bit of protein (and I think it's a whey isolate if I'm not mistaken).

Somebody has a recipe to make your own, too. I forgot who posted it and where though.

    Bingo.

Since I started making a point of taking my Accelerade solution before martial arts practice, I haven't had a cramp.

Last night we had a torture night. I wasn't well slept and I didn't have the Accelerade. Guess what? I cramped like a motherfucker.
