Is it cheaper for you to do take out or do groceries?

I had a craving for something last night, so I went to the grocery store and bought the ingredients... and some other things. Ended up spending $41.
Or I could've gone to the Poke place I've been going to and gotten salmon and crab poke with 2 scoops of rice for $9. Granted, the grocery store netted me a few things, but most of it was used of from the cooking. Only a few ingredients are left to be used next time.

Groceries.

Plus the supermarket I use is just down the road from a gym so it's often full of tight bodies wearing lycra bottoms showing off everything. Some of the women are quite nice too .

And a lot of mothers pop in for bits before taking their kids to school.

Not even a question, groceries.

When cooking one meal for one person however the time cost can quickly outweigh any savings. At that point it's really got to be a health decision.
Restaurants don't care if you get fat.

My best tip, once a month or so cook a shit tonne of bolonaise sauce and freeze it into single servings. Cheap, lots of veggies make it healthy, and freezes well.
Last batch I made about 40 servings.

Its a good 1.5 hours of work, plus 3 hours of simmering but huge time and money saver, plus healthy.

Maybe it's just a great spot, I had a sushi place like that near my job before the pandemic, but buying the ingredients and cooking for yourself is almost certainly better. You're buying the quality you want and cooking the portion size you need. Grocery prices aren't only rising for you but for the restaurants too.

Honestly, I dont know as a single person. Buying fresh in bulk is smart, but dumb if you're alone.
If you buy in bulk like that get a vacuum sealer and freeze everything into portions.

Edited to add that ziploc freezer bags are adequate if you aren't storing for an extended amount of time.

Would you rather BBQ burgers , steaks , ribs , brisket the way you want .... or go spend $100+ at a steak house for an under cooked steak.

What you got at the store was probably better than that mystery meat imitation crab/salmon though.
