Is it a 10-8 round if you only land1 strike the whole round?

burkman/noons rd 1 > lawler/condit rd 5

Technically, it very well could be. But I don't think that many of those leg kicks Josh was landing were very hard. I don't see how you could really lose a round 10-8 exclusively due to inactivity when you aren't being visibly hurt.

Burkman certainly didn't have him in danger or come close to finishing but KJ did nothing. I think they should score it a 10-8, incredible timidity and unwillingness to engage or commit to a single strike should be about the worst thing you can do in a round. People should be able to lose rounds 10-8 without having to be dropped 2 or more times and beaten half to death.

"effective aggressiveness" is scoring criteria, so yes, that's terrible. Probably lowest priority if no damage is done, but I wouldn't even be mad if that first round was 10-8 at all...

I found it even more egregious that they counted all the strikes he didn't actually throw as attempted strikes.

one of the most one sided rounds in ufc history.

Yeah he was just reaching forward testing his range, I really don't think you can put much value on the stats at all.

No since the round where rjj never got hit was not a 10-8

Leg kicks in that first round didn't look extremely hard but they landed and did damage. His knee was red inside and out. I think his ribs on the opposite side were showing it too. Should have been a 10-8 IMO

I think it's definitely possible if the guy who is winning is doing it through grappling and getting close to finishing with subs
