is HW really the "baddest man on the planet" division?

Do you like it when boys be bad OP?

we've always considered the HW champ in MMA (and boxing) to be the baddest man on the planet. That is, the HW champ, due to his size can beat any man in the divisions below them.

is this really true though? there has to be an "ideal weight" though, a point (generally speaking, over a large sample size) at which a man has the perfect ratio of size to speed. is this really the HW division?

if you have two completely equally matched fighters in every area except size, does the bigger man always win? in all weight classes? is there a tipping point where the bigger man becomes too slow and speed wins? if we added on a couple more weight divisions above HW, would the top champ always win?

this is why i'm so interested in DC v Miocic, even though they will be fighting in the same weight classes, and are arguably not that different in weight.
Nope. With the hw limit you can't make that claim.

Of course not

There’s 265 limit

They’re hiding from shw

At any given time it might be a LHW but it's typically a HW.

No. People are cutting weight just for fun. Dough

I'd say maybe LHW.
I mean, Randy did beat Timmeh!
DC is favorite over Miocic
And I would think that JJ could have beaten most of the top 5 in the HW division.... if he could remain out of trouble that is.

Besides, remember pride and their open weight tourneys?
It was not uncommon for a LHW's like Wandi, Vitor, Rua, Rampage would win it.

Nope, and if the UFC had a no weight classes tournament I think a lot of people would be surprised.

Lhw and hw. All them motherfuckers are basically the same size anyway.

I kid.

No. The bester fighter who on fight nighr weighs between 130 and 143 is the baddest. This is a fact. Good thread thoug, very glad you asked

I won't hold Cormier to this standard because we all know why he fights at lightheavyweight but if what you are proposing were true, you wouldn't have all of the p-ssies cutting weight to avoid the HWs. The Middleweights and the LHWs wouldn't cut weight to duck them.

I think the talent level is higher at 185 and 205. And Jones could take the belt at HW.

The ideal weight is anywhere from 225ish to 300lbs. From what we've witnessed in MMA, 300 and up becomes slow and low in many attributes. 225ish is also an in shape, pre weight cut LHW so that covers them too. There could always be a freak or two out there that are the exceptions but for the most part there won't be any good 300lb fighters unless, maybe, if they're roided to the gills like NFL athletes. Same goes for the small guys. They shouldn't be able to beat HWs unless they're roided to the gills like PED Henderson. Sure, they can win a match here and there but they will always be at a disadvantage. So anyway, if you wanna be the "best" you have to prove it at HW. If not, you're only P4P best or P4P GOAT. But you'll never be GOAT. And no, you can't compare Lesnars, Cains, Fedors, Stipes skill set to Conors, Mouses, Dillishaws because if the small guys gained 100lbs and grew a foot their skillsets would look much different.
