Is horror the only good genre in movies right now?

Which of these genres have been good since 2010?

So from 2010 to 2025 you think Comedy has been good because of Happy Gilmore 2?

2010s

Toy story 3
Macgruber
21 jump street
Deadpool
Get him to the Greek
This is the end
Bridesmaids
Horrible Bosses
Ted
Wolf of Wall Street
1st half of Anchorman 2
Guardians of the galaxy
The interview
Neighbors

Nothing in the 2020s all garbage

2010s had some a few good comedies but overall comedy ended in the 2000s. For me personally it's the weakest genre of the last 15 years because of how great the 90s and 00s were. Huge drop off.

OK, I look some up. They all suck. I recind my vote for comedies. I mostly watch shows, which have been fantastic. Comedy movies definitely stink.

Honestly the only movies I've actually gone to the theater to see in the past ten years it seems aren't even on your list. I really only get excited to see music biopics... Like the Queen, Elton John, Whitney Houston Jeff Buckley, Elvis, etc.

@TheNinja, @HUGHPHUG, please share with the rest of class these great comedies from 2010 and later you've been watching.

They're only as 'great' as some of the horror that has been mentioned

So are we doing the annual Sherdog tradition of watching as many Horror movies as possible between October 1st and Halloween this year? 😈 :)

No love for the Porn Genre? They have some good acting!

These lists suck. When you start trying to count movies like Parasite and Calvary as Comedy, even the person making it knows that.

Yeah, knew this was coming. There are tons of movies that have comedic elements that nobody considers comedies.

The fact someone would try to present this movie as a great comedy from the era already betrays how weak he knows the era is for Comedy. Imagine I asked for the great comedies of the 1980's. How many guys on Sherdog do you think will come back with Dead Poets Society on the list? Everyone thinks it's a great film. Nobody considers it a Comedy.

Yet that's one of its genre tags on IMDb.

You can spam as many JPGs as you want, this isn't the point.

Fargo is a black comedy. Nobody contests this. When there are threads about the great comedies of the 90's, how often do you see Fargo brought up?

Nobody leaves the theater after having seen Parasite, and thinks to himself, "Damn, that was one of the funniest movies I've seen in years. What a great comedy."

Calvary is a deliciously dark comedy packed full of comedic actors

Who considers this a Comedy?

Here's a RottenTomatoes editorial of 2019 with the 43 best comedies from that year. Undoubtedly Parasite would be on it if the RT staff itself considered Parasite to be a comedy as it was #7 on their overall list with a 99% positive rating. And the "Comedy" tag is right there on its page under the "Genres" like those Henry is clinging to above. Yet it unsurprisingly does NOT appear:

Roger Ebert's review wrote of the movie:
I’ll do my best because Bong Joon-ho’s “Parasite” is unquestionably one of the best films of the year. Just trust me on this one...It is a tonal juggling act that first feels like a satire—a comedy of manners that bounces a group of lovable con artists off a very wealthy family of awkward eccentrics.
Look, I can highlight the word "satire" and "comedy". They thought it was one of the best movies of the year. Yet they had a feature about the Best Comedies of 2019. Parasite wasn't on it.

I could do this over and over and over. When the genre is so bankrupt of laughs that you begin pointing to movies like this, everyone can see you're scrambling around on your knees scraping for anything to count.
