Today I could see Gus winning vs an older Fedor but generally no I would say the opposite. Look what we saw with Rumble, Gus defencively is IMHO not that great and a fast powerful heavy handed opponent is bad news for him, even against a declining Shogun he needed to grapple to wear him down.

I think Gus is actually a bad matchup for them though, strong takedown defence and high output against opponents who don't carry the striking threat of prime Fedor.

Maybe current Fedor. Meathead always had a fast jab and a block of meat for a head, he'd get subbed but he always had decent fast hard jabs. That Fedor fight was Fedor, both men going for the kill. The fact Fedor weighs what he does and still has the speed to react the same connecting at the same time, with a more wound up punch and put his adversary down for a moment had that fight going either way and down to recovery. If Fedor got up first and Meathead was still rocked I believe the same would have happened to Meat.

Meathead has a lot less fights too and 40 year old Fedor may be getting chinny who knows. I believe if Fedor still has his chin he's just as likely to blast Gus into a stumbling drunk and then a severe beating. Both situations could occur. If Gus's chin is going, it'd be a nightmare if anything connected. Fedor is going for the kill.

He doesn't rat a tat tap you like Jones. He has the power of a Rumble and a lot more tools. I think Fedor gets popped with a few jabs but not enough to put him away. It's be a stand up fight and eventually I believe Gus goes stiff or the refs stops the brutality on the ground. I'm not talking Red Devil Fedor either. That would just be a massacre.
