Is gsp vs Hendricks still the most controversial fight of all time ?

I was at the shopping mall lately doing some grocery and I was surprised to still heard a conversation about who won between George and Johnny, the fact that people still talk about it 8 years ago just show at what point this fight was polarized. Johnny won it imo.

Hendricks wins under the new rules giving damage more weight because he takes the first. GSP wins under the rules at the time because you score a round in it's totality and clean takedowns were worth heaps.
The blast double guillotine, fake tap sequence would have won him the round if it was at the end with no question. It's at the start and Hendricks lands some good shots towards the end so people gave it to him. Round 1 was the toss up. I edged it to GSP.

Hendricks gave the 5th and the fight away in his typical way. He shouldn't have coasted.

Once USADA came into play, Hendricks never looked the same again. He had a streak of missing weight and showing up to weigh-ins out of shape. His in cage performances plummeted.

Yeah that's the IV ban+failling body+no strict diet.
There's no " lot of evidence to support that he may have been using prohibited substances for that fight."
Ivs were legal back then.

The whole Hendricks was on steroids thing is just a way for Gsp fans to cope

Not really

When I watched it live I was fuming

Rewatched it a few times and was surprised, GSP won pretty decisively in my books

GSP was better at range

Everyone forgets that GSP landed some massive headkicks through the fight and most of Johnnys volume was from the clinch in a over/under situation.

Hendricks went from almost beating arguably the GOAT to going 3-7 in his next 10 fights (3L’s by TKO) when USADA entered the picture.

Like with dudes like Carwin you can say with near 100% certainty that they were on sterioid because they were busted in a steroid ring

If you're measuring the controversy by popularity? Probably. GSP was always the biggest star, so it'd likely be the most talked about. If you're measuring by the proportion of dissenting opinion? No. There were at least 2 or 3 worse decisions in UFC championship matches alone, let alone all of MMA.

Colby beat Usman and Zhang beat Rose more convincingly than Gsp beat Hendricks. It is the only fight I know of where the entire media scored it for one guy and the judges gave it to another.

Even Gsp fans know he lost, that is why they are dead set on framing Pig Pigg as a steroid cheat and Gsp as the cleanest fighter in the game. The irony is Johnny wanted wada, not usada, and since then usada has been the org that has proven to be corrupt and having a different set of rules for UFC's cash cow champions (i.e. jones) compared other fighters (i.e. Tom Lawlor, Frank Mir, etc). Johnny was always bound to be the type of fighter, much like Conor, that as soon as he reached his goals he was going to let himself go, plus, I also think he just matched up with Gsp well. Conor did not have to be the next Aldo to beat him, nor did he need to cheat usada, he just needed to have the style to beat Aldo, just as Hendricks did for Gsp.

Hendricks also went 3-7 since the GSP fight.

That was a weight cutting issue. If you use that as your measurement then you are calling Conor McGregor a PED user as well. He changed weight classes after USADA rule changes. Hendricks missed weight multiple times because he tried to stay at WW. GSP quit at that same time so are you saying he a PED user too?

Biggest robbery of all time. Hendricks totally won that fight, and if the fight was judged with today's rules and what makes a 10-8 round, then Hendricks would have officially won because rounds 2 and 4 would have been scored as 10-8 for Hendricks.

You sir, are an idiot if you think those were 10-8 rounds.

GSP wanted comprehensive drug testing through Vada and Hendricks refused. Then the Athletic Commission offered WADA comprehensive testing for the fight. Hendricks accepted that WADA offer but GSP rejected it.
