Media Is Gaethje mentally broken?

Nope, remember him running for his life while lightheartedly smiling during the Khabib fight, he knew the jig was up and saw humor in his own situation...
that’s not the behavior of a mentally broken individual

I still haven't seen that fight but makes sense. I used to act like that when my older brother would be on the warpath to put me once over the painbow again! Hahaha!!! I also knew fighting back was futile but fun none the less. Well said Benoit.

Holidays were upon him and he fought and trained hard all year? Guy just needs time to drink and be merry. Which is the opposite of Kawner and Basehball Jones, he may keep his partying private and in check. Maybe?
What happened to him saying he'd be ready in 6 weeks after the Khabib fight?

Dysmimia, typical of tough men being broken.

That's how you should handle a loss. Retreat and go back to the drawing board. You don't spam your twitter and act like you won. You don't claim victory that wasn't there. You don't brag about an illegal strike.

I hope the Gaethje that took Tony's soul appears
The Gaethje that took Tony's soul is the same Gaethje that got smoked by Alvarez, beating senseless by Porier, and given his first lesson in grappling by Khabib.

I don't think he's mentally broke but I think he realized he's never going to be the best.

I would think that not taking much damage as opposed to his other fights, khabib retiring, and the possibility of putting on a quick turn around show at the cost of chandler may have motivated him to say such things. Post adrenaline dump probably started thinking of holidae, the soft touch of a woman, etc?

Hes waiting for the winner of Dustin vs Conor, and what's going on with Dana and Khabib. So there's a lot of options for him.
Would not be surprised if he fights Oliveira and the winner fights the winner of DP/CM fight after that for the title.

I doubt it, every chance he could still become champ without beating Khabib now.

Possibly, I’m sure the loss of title contention could possibly bring the onset of depression, although the situation now doesn’t present that issue with Khabib on the shelf. I don’t necessarily think that means that Justin has been broken going forward... He bounced back from the Poirier and Alvarez loses wellI, fights where he not only lost his 0 but was stopped for the first times in his career.

Going back to the point of Khabib fight, I was actually expecting him to lose based off of the uncharacteristic way he was acting in the week leading up until the fight... I honestly think he knew he was phucked, he was atypically chirping and talking trash quite a bit. My memory sucks but IIRC he really lashed out at Ali, Khabib, and Dana of favoritism and overlooking him when they were questioned about the GSP fight and Khabi going 30-0. When I started seeing these random social media outbursts from Justin on Sherdog during fight week, I presumed that the pressure had gotten the better of him and expected a poor performance, basically what happened.

I liked your old AV better, the one with the Oni, I actually thought you weren’t posting anymore because you changed it...lol

I've noticed that his very few media appearances since 254 he doesn't seem all there to me. Seems a bit run down and demoralized. I don't remember seeing him like that after the losses to Poirier and Alvarez, maybe because they were both close blood and guts fights that he did very well in. Almost seems like he's a bit ashamed of his performance against Khabib.

Then the news comes out that Chandler is fighting Hooker. Did the UFC offer the fight to Gaethje? And if so, why did he turn it down? Could it be that his confidence has been shaken and he needs more time?
He should be ashamed. This is coming from a fan too. He let Khabib’s mystique beat him before they even got in the cage. Never thought I’d see that from Justin. Of course I never thought I’d see it happen to Aldo either.

he was pretty tentative in that fight. i think he was mentally gotten to before it even started. granted he was concerned about the TD, but he sure didn't look like his normal self.
He seemed nervous to me in the face off next to the beach.

Ehhh not sure why he would be. He always goes in there with the mentality that he can possibly lose. All of the best in the world have lost to Khabib. If anything, he should be more focused than ever because the division is now up in the air with Khabib gone. He’s more of a title threat than he was a year ago.

Him turning down chandler makes it seem like he wants a break to recover and refresh.

I'd say that's brain damage setting in.
