Movies Is Dr No the best Bond villain?

He's up there, much better than the latest Bond villain that we have, who didn't even have any beef with 007

My favorite henchman/henchwoman is Xenia Onatopp

That was the hottest female I ever saw at that time. My young brain got fucked for a lifetime by her.

Was bad to the bone when that dude said "No Mr. Bond, I expect you to die."

The single best line any Bond villain has ever said.

Gert Frobe, who played Goldfinger, didn't speak English, so he learned the script phonetically and they dubbed another actor's voice for his scenes.

When the film was released, it was banned in Israel because it came out that Frobe had been a member of the Nazi party and fought in WWII. Then members of a Jewish family came forward to set the record straight: Frobe had actually hid them in the cellar of his own house, protecting them from the SS and Gestapo. If they'd been found, they would have been sent to the death camps and Frobe himself would have been executed.

In the Fort Knox scene, Goldfinger uses an MP-40 submachine gun to kill US soldiers. In most war films, soldiers hold the MP-40's magazine, which can cause the weapon to jam. Frobes holds the weapon by the underside of the barrel, almost certainly based on his real life experience.

Frobe hated filming the scene where the Wise Guys are killed by poison gas. For obvious reasons, it brought back very unpleasant memories...

Speaking of great villains, Oddjob is up there.

I know that Goldfinger and (Donald Pleasence) Blofeld are popular choices, but to me, these guys were just typical "Curses! Foiled again!" villains who turned tail at the first sign of trouble.

I think that The Man with the Golden Gun is under-rated and Scaramanga and Nick Nack were top tier Bond villains. Both of these guys had Bond dead to rights. It was like a role reversal where Bond was reduced to being the "Curses! Foiled again!" guy.

But the thing that set Scaramanga apart was that he wanted a fair fight with Bond where his own life was on the line.

Doesn't Bond look like the underdog in this picture? Also, before becoming one of the most prolific bad guys of all time (Bond villain, Dracula, Jedi turned Sith before Vader, Saruman the Wizard), Christopher Lee had an extensive military record probably closer to a real life James Bond than any other actor in the franchise.

Oddjobs karate chop to Bonds neck is one of the first exposures to karate in the West. Clint did it in one of those spaghetti westerns too.

Sakata was an Olympic Weightlifter(Silver Medal)and didn't know his own strength. He actually hurt Connery in that scene.

When Connery winces in pain as he slumps to the floor, he's not acting.

I just wanted to add an honorable mention to Hugo Drax from Moonraker. Whereas, Scaramanga was the cool bad guy, Drax was an even bigger dickwad than Goldfinger and Blofeld. Drax was so bad that even his henchman Jaws turned on him.

Imagine the meeting of the minds that came up with Drax: Let's make him like Hitler, but he tries to genocide the entire world except for his handful of perfect race members. I'd like to see someone top that.

Let's make him French.

Goldfinger>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.every other Bond Big Bad. It's not even close.

Yeah I was going to say Dr. No isn’t even the best among the Connery villains but he is good.

Connery Bond had some heavy hitter antagonists- Goldfinger, Blofeld (Pleasance and Gray both good but Pleasance is the way more iconic one), Dr. No, Largo, Klebb/Kronstein/Red Grant, etc.

What's the best non-Connery Bond flick out there?
Goldeneye, Casino Royale, and Skyfall. The Roger Moore films if you didn't grow up watching them could come off as almost a parody
Ernst Stavro Blofeld is the best Bond villian
Blofeld is for sure the most iconic and he was in 8 films.

Goldeneye was essentially a cheat code since it had two amazing villains in one movie (006 and Xenia).

Javier Bardem (Skyfall) is easily the best and most clutch performance villains wise for the entire 2000s. He was coming off winning the Academy Award for No Country for Old Men so the fan/media expectations he had for Skyfall were about as high as you could possibly get and he delivered.
