Is Dariush a bad matchup for Oliveira?

Oliveira has faced tons of high level grapplers from Div I wrestlers, to some of the highest regarded black belts. Actually, he may have faced more grapplers than any other type of style.

Hatsu hioki, VERY high level BJJ, once considered one of the best submission grapplers at FW: subbed by Oliveira in a grappler's wet dream fight.

Nick lentz DIV I wrestler: Look at the grappling exchanges between Lentz and Islam, then compare them to oliveira submitting Lentz.

Kevin Lee: Obviously a good grappler, but lacks in heart and cardio: subbed by Oliveira

Jim miller DIV I wrestler, also bjj black belt: Oliveira finished him on his recent run

Tony ferguson, NCWA wrestler, bjj black belt: oliveira tooled him

Darren elkins, NCAA div II wrestler, Brown belt: subbed by oliveira, and oliveira is the only one ever to do that.

Clay guida, pretty much only wrestles and made a UFC career off of it: subbed by oliveira

Myles Jury, legit bjj black belt: subbed by oliveira
tbh I don't know Hatsu hioki but no one in that list comes close to the grappling of CDF that's what I meant, Jim Miller in his prime submitted Oliveira, Nick isn't THAT good.

Dariush is a complete mixed martial artist with high fight IQ and an indomitable fighting spirit. He is/ has been a threat to everyone in the division. His ground game is elite and his southpaw striking style presents unique angles and is quite effective.

He presses forward with a purpose and always brings the fight. Huge fan.

For me, the biggest X-factor is the conditioning. Dariush has never been five rounds before, but he does show a tendency to get a little gassed in the 3rd. Champion Chucky's conditioning is legit, so I can picture him winning via finish in the later rounds.

I disagree with your x-factor. Champ Chucky has also never seen a 4th round in his entire career and has been shown to slow down and wilt in the past (best example is against Felder. you can literally see him fold during a 2nd round scramble where DBronx gets to a front headlock position only to flop guard as Felder powers through/.)

CO's best display of cardio was against Tony, but that was solely skill based (a elite display of ground work btw!). You may say " O he beat Tony by UD and didn't get tired, therefore his cardio is strong". This is a logical fallacy. It is far easier to fight deep into a fight when you are to one calling the shots. Your techical superiority allows you to choose when to expend your energy. A great example is BJ Penn vs Diego. A guy known for gassing vs a cardio maniac. BJ's skills allowed him to dictate the pace of the fight and tko Sanchez in the 5th.

To me this fight is a toss up. I could see Dariush outworking CO on the ground just as much as I see the opposite.

After reading this, I double-checked Charles Oliveira's record, and you're right. For some reason, I could've sworn he's fought into championship rounds before, but he's never gone past a three round decision. He's been scheduled for a few five round main events, but those never went past the third round, either.
