A lot of people like to talk about how they dont like the smaller weight classes because the guys are small blah blah blah, but the reality is is that the guys are pushing boundaries further and further. Matt hughes was a dominant welterweight champ not all to long ago. He is one of the first dominant champs we have ever had if not the first. He's 5' 9" 170 pounds and conor is 5' 9" 145 pounds. Regardless of those numbers I think they are about the same size if conor isnt cutting weight. Pretty crazy to think about. Matt hughes vs conor mcgregor UFC 200!!!! lol

No, not even close.

Are you high?

connor has an exceptional frame for weight division fighting. In respect of genetic gifts if you look at the breadth of his clavicle / deltoid vs his waist probably only Phil Davis would have a similar ratio. He has breadth but exceptionally lean, a very small waist and doesnt have the thickness of a GSP or Hughes, however if you met McGregor at 180 walking around you would think thats a very very big guy due to his head size and shoulder breadth but he is pigeon chested with no waist so can make the lighter weights

Conor is 5'8". I know its not much of a difference but it came straight from conors mouth.

Nice post. It makes sense.

He looks like hes gsp height in that picture but he also has that thing on his leg from when he tore his acl. Gsp is 5 10

Hughes looks way bigger in your post and what you posted is by no means Hughes at his biggest.

Hughes is thicker by quite a bit

Hughes wouldn't have been able to make LW let alone FW

also he's got that country boy strength from pounding his twin brother behind the barn

Im posting pictures for reference but remember conor is cutting to 145. He is much bigger then that. Matt hughes doesnt look anywhere near as defined as conor and he doesnt look significantly more muscular. If they werent cutting weight i believe they are about the same size. If conor decided to fight at welterweight(which he has talked about) he wouldnt be working all the time to get that body fat off and would be about matt hughes size

I haven't really heard this about the McGregors, Aldos, and Edgars of the world--just about the Mighty Mice and comparable-sized people of the world.

If Conor put on the weight correctly he would be a smallish WW but not tiny, John Kavanagh has said he think Conor may even fight at WW in the future, I seriously doubt it myself, but I suspect it's based on how well Conor handles himself sparring with Gunnar.

I met Hughes. I'm 5'11" so obviously he wasnt that tall to me but he was thick... solid and... tight. But really that dudes back is probably the same size as Conor... He has been retired for a little but he looked right around 200lbs.

I agree, Conor is a Birdman, or would it be Manbird?
