Conor at Featherweight cannot be denied in terms of his level of success against high-level guys. He's finished Aldo, Mendes and Poirier, that is clearly some of the best talent at 145. Him at LW is a complete unknown in terms of high-level competition. Joseph Duffy isn't a elite guy in my opinion, but he's as high as it's got in terms of level at LW he's faced and we know what happened there.

So, why don't we take an example fighter very similar to Conor in terms of size. Let's say Anthony Pettis. Pettis has a slightly longer reach and is a little taller than McGregor, but he's a proven KO threat, who's primarily a striker, with zero wrestling offense/defence and has trouble with being controlled on the ground. Pettis is 100% more of a threat off his back, but hey, comparisons can never be perfect!

So let's say Anthony cut an extreme amount of weight (we all know he gets chubby out of season) and gets down to 145. He could definitely make it, as Conor cuts almost 20lbs to make 145, (just look at the Mendes cut). Are we honestly saying that Anthony wouldn't KO Dustin, Siver, Mendes and maybe even Aldo?

I cannot understand the credit that Conor gets of insurmountable proportion for winning a title. How many guys have won a title in the UFC, and how many with impressive finishes, so many I cannot count em'. Didn't Weidman KO the GOAT? Didn't Werdum choke out the soon to be HW GOAT? Didn't GSP submit the greatest WW ever? Didn't Jones walk through an all-time great?

Until Conor defends that title against top contenders I think this whole "Yeah, he lost, but he's still got a belt" talk has to stop. Yes, he has a belt, and he's done well to get there - but I think most guys who can make 145 from LW would emulate that success, I honestly, honestly think that! and that isn't a problem, but let's stop acting like the man is doing things that we've never seen before. The only thing he's done which is shocking is somehow believing that he could fight at WW - now that's setting levels!

Opinions?

he's only overrated if you actually believe that he can take any top guys at LW or WW. but you're pretty retarded to believe that.

it's difficult to call him overrated at FW, as he is the champion and rightfully rated as the best one there.

Yes.
Thank god now that the overhype around this guy is over!

lost to a LW gatekeeper lasting less than 10 minutes and exposing his lackey wrestling, BJJ, gas tank and chin when before that people actually claimed he would hold 3 belts at the same time and was the best fighter of all time. Just imagine what would happen to Anderson Silva's legacy if Forrest Griffin embarrassed him at LHW, but on a guy with 0 title defenses and a very big mouth lol.

Dont forget GOAT and p4p.

the UFC believed it, the fans believed it, he believed it and he is still #3 P4P. We can absolutely conclude that he is/was overrated

As a FW no, not at all.

Let's be honest, you're treating his claims and his fan's claims with kid gloves here.

Nobody refers to this man as "one of the best at FW" - he's essentially crowned as the absolute GOAT at FW after that Aldo win. Aldo is essentially a bum now in most ignorant fans minds.

He was also somehow one fight away from a Welterweight title shot or a Superfight with GSP. He also just gets awarded a LW title shot without a win at that weight, so calling him overrated when he gets those opportunities and the most credit I've ever heard for a man who just won a title, yeah he's definitely overrated.

he over rated himself...and got mounted on the wall of Diaz's mancave

OK, but using my example...

Does Pettis, RDA, Ferguson, Khabib, Diaz, Cerrone etc. not all beat most if not all of those guys at FW too?

Seeming as Conor is a natural LW I have to use this as the measuring stick? Is he doing things that others cannot? Nope...

McGregor knocks many fighters cold, so in that sense he is not overrated. What makes him overrated is his fan base, the UFC, and other media outlets making him out to be the all time GOAT fighter before he ever had a single title defense, which btw, he still doesn't have. He is overrated in the sense that he has been hailed as something never before seen, and that is a load of horseshit.

Of course he is. People were genuinely saying he could be a 3 division champion and should get a shot against Lawler. He's the FW champ and rightfully so but the degree of delusion on his skill set was beyond anything we've seen.

What will happen to McGregor when Frankie Edgar beats him too? :)

Facts:
-McGregor is an oversized FW that cuts an unhealthy amount of weight to make 145
-He just lost against a LW, let's be honest, gatekeeper that took the fight on short notice
-At this point it's pretty clear RDA with a full camp would have beaten him even worse than Diaz
-Conor will have to starve himself if he wants to keep a belt :) And I'm not so sure he beat Aldo in the rematch

Conclusion: McGregor was another UFC hype job.

How is he overrated dude

He had the balls to move up two weight classes for a fight after KO'ing the goat of his division in 13 seconds. He wants to fight Robbie as well

meanwhile Jon Jones and GSP never had the balls to take a fight outside of their weightclass.

By the Way Jon Jones and GSP were also huge for their weightclass but neither had the balls to move up

Connor he has balls and isn't afraid to get out of his comfort zone and thats what makes him 10x the fighter that Jon Jones is
