Is ChoiceCenter a cult?

And atheism is a cult too by that logic.
If you believe in something like mainstream cosmology, then you are in a cult or sorts.
Atheism, scientific materialism, even "science" itself are all cults or can be, yes. However even within science there are skeptics and those who challenge the (very unscientific) groupthink inherent to those communities. Whereas if you challenge a religion, it isn't the religion anymore. The point is it doesn't change. AKA bullshit

Better to be a skeptic in the sense of Socrates or Terrence McKenna imo

Imo, I don't see why anyone would be offended by being told religions are cults. You can still believe in God and a number of other things without following something clearly designed to corral people. Free yourself, God won't mind. Become a real free person and thinker, that's divine.

I think it's simply a problem of rhetoric. Whatever people are uncomfortable with, they label a cult. People are swayed too easily by these things. Maybe they haven't been educated on what rhetoric is.

Lastly. If you wanna be in a cult, own up to it. We pretty much all are. Labeling people with different beliefs is just... low. At least be smart and disavow yourself of any beliefs first. It's an interesting way of being. Take nothing for granted. When you start believing in something, that means you've stopped thinking about it.

So cosmology is a cult, in the sense that if you really BELIEVE the universe is 13.8 billion years old, with certainty, or any number of things that we can't really be sure of. That's how progress stops

I actually agree with most of that.

I just find atheists hilarious because many of them are just as convinced in their beliefs as a religious fanatic, despite the fact that their claim is in no way provable or more plausible.

I thing religion has utility, but as you said one can believe in God without following any mainstream religion.

Aww the manlet feels awkward. This comment is gold. If your mam ever finds out who your dad is you should ask him for some advice on how not to come
Across as a fatherless illegitimate bastard. You reek of insecurity and bitterness. Try and be better buttercup.
