Is chin just based on facial skull bone density and neck thickness?

it looks like he has wet paper skin.

Apparently, it's a survival mechanism because the brain cannot interpret those electrical signals and could do something harmful.

you'll develop superpowers.

Cabbage disagrees. Technique plays a roll for some guys, some guys just have a fuckin barrel for a head.

I'm pretty sure it's just genes mostly. I could take a beating way before I ever went to a gym, been through a car crash which people couldn't believe I walked out of let alone stayed conscious (though I had a massive concussion regardless from the hit).

Your example is a guy with a bunch of R1 KO loses?

Also, this kind of thread has been done to death over the years.
Bigfoot actually has the equivalent of Homer Simpson syndrome with his skull being extra thick.

His career really went downhill after his brain surgery for his pituitary tumour.

Gotta keep the chin tucked…..see a lot of dudes looking straight up when striking …..some dudes chins are overrated because their recovery is so good

George Chuzalo is regarded as having one of the best chins of all time. 93 heavyweight fights never knocked down. Fought all the best guys of his era. There is an interview where he is asked about his chin and what he thinks make a good chin. He says it is mostly genetics. But he has noticed guys with big heads and short necks have better chins like himself. He also says seeing and rolling with punches makes a big difference.

I have small bone structure and not much muscle around neck but have never been knocked out cold in my life.

It helps but even Mike Tyson got knocked out. It's more about defense than anything.

Max is a lengthy guy and has only been put away once. Chin is a hard thing to judge some chinny guys eat bombs and shrug it off and then they’ll get jabbed in the forehead and do the dance. Like a lot of guys here said I thinks it’s the ones you don’t see coming neck doesn’t have time to brace and calibrate and the brain goes for a ride.

You also have to be aware where the punches are coming from and know how to react to them.

cabbage is an islander. most islanders have skulls full of concrete.

Think hydration is more important. Seems like guys with the best chins cut the least weight. Can’t have some dry grey matter rattling around your skull like a cat toy.

It's not just physical attributes, it also matters a lot if you see a shot coming and can brace for it or atleast be in a proper defensive position without your chin sticking out.
This 100%. Being able to prep yourself for being hit is almost as important as the neck strength. You can take out any chin if you hit them square with something they don't even see coming

You sometimes can look at guys and tell they have a good chin, but it's just a born with thing really. Still age seems to affect chin and once it's cracked it's easier to crack. No chin is perfect. Can't think of anyone who had an invulnerable chin and could just walk through any punch to land theirs. Even guys like Hunt or Roy Nelson got finished by trying it out. As much as people make a big deal about chin, it usually isn't the dealbreaker as long as it isn't weak.
