Stipe has basically emphatically turned away every challenger he has faced and avenged his loss to JDS. His one other loss is to Struve but I doubt that Struve would be competitive. I think Velasquez is the ghost in the heavyweight machine. Cardio for days if he's at sea-level, power punching, excellent wrestling.
Is Cain standing between Stipe and the title of heavyweight GOAT? Does he even factor in to your opinions at this point?

Sure , Cain is a beast when he actually fights, the problem is fans are done waiting for him to be healthy and all that mileage on his body and various surgeries will catch up with him very soon and we might see different Cain when he actually comes back

I think Stipe beats whatever version of Cain returns.

There has to be doubt in Cain's mind that he'll be as good as he once was - meanwhile Stipe is getting better and better.

Fighting skills aside, Stipe is surely the mentally toughest HW within the UFC division - I guess when you're used to fighting fires, you're not unduly intimidated by monsters like Francis and Overeem.

Even though Cain's style matches up with him, I'd heavily favour Stipe.

I hope we get to see the fight as I am sick to death of rematches!

Cain should not even come back. He does not want any of Stipe.

Absolute best matchup available right now.

Getting Cain to the octagon is the greatest hw challenge there is.

Cain, then Werdum rematch, then probably Volkov if he wins one more. It's shallow.

if he beats cain and potentially DC down the line there can be no question that stipe is the GOAT HW

Cain needs to fight others first.
I think is a disrespect suggest this inactive fighter.

I'd like to see Miocic vs Blaydes and rematch against Struve, Werdum first than Velasquez...

No tbh werdum is still a difficult test for stipe and I think they should rematch. As short as it was, werdum was looking better than stipe before he threw all caution and training out the window

I think so and it will probably be Stipe's toughest fights. 50/50 in my eyes. Maybe favor sligtly an extremely in form Cain.

Cain shouldn't get the TS tho. Not deserving.

Cain doesn't deserve it. He's won only one fight in over a four year period.

Too bad Derrick Lewis had to lose his last one. He would a win streak worthy of a title shot at this point.

UFC should bring in guys like Vitaly Minakov and Blagoy Ivanov to feed to Stipe.

Yeah, unless they wanna call up Brock.

Only Werdum would be a significant threat in a rematch. Ngannou will too if he goes back and develops more than a minute of cardio and some wrestling defense (at least) That dude has scary power it's like fighting a gorilla (and no that's not a racial reference for you sensitive sally's)

Cain would be the most worthy challenger... & one hell of a fight.

Dana did mention the possibility of Brock returning this year. That would be fun... thought it's not a good look giving someone a title shot after being caught by USADA.

With a win over Mark Hunt next month... Blaydes might be just one more gate keeper away from a shot. Mainly because Stipe all ready cleaned out the division. Maybe do a title eliminator between him & Werdum.

As it stands right now... there's absolutely no fights to make for Stipe... lol

Cain, if he can manage to be healthy. And a Werdum rematch with Fabricio in serious conditioning and head space(assuming he didn't get really old all of a sudden) are the only plausible challenges left at the current stage I believe.

Yes. But Stipe has to rematch Werdum who would hopefully take him more seriously the second time.

As for the UFC HW GOAT discussion... It's really close... but I think Stipe gets it.

They both got 4 title wins... but Stipe's are consecutive.

They both got 2 or 3 signifigant wins prior to getting the title... but Stipe's pre-belt run is a bit more stacked.

They both got 2 losses... but Stipe has 4 more fights than Cain.
