Is Bruce Buffer a UFC shill or just clueless to any other MMA organization.

Listening to Bruce Buffer on his podcast its as if he knows nothing of any other MMA promotion.

- Has never watched a Bellator event.
- Was not sure what WSOF was.
- Thought Thachi Palace fights was a Japanese MMA promotion.
- Thought Invicta was a MMA promotion sponsored by a watch company based again, out of "The Pacific rim".

He honestly seems clueless, but then he mentioned that he was thinking of entering Bellator's Kick Boxing promotion so that leads me to believe he is shilling.

Any ideas?

I think he's an oblivious shill. No one is paying him to think or talk like this. He's just been part of the UFC for so long that he's feels like a number one fan. He's invested so much time into the company that it became all he knows. That type of behavior is odd when you see it from the outside.

I have a feeling he only knows anything about UFC because he works there. He just might not be a huge MMA fan. I never got the feeling he really bothers with the sport outside of his job...


The other notable incident in Buffer’s mind was at UFC 159 when announcing that Jim Miller had submitted Pat Healy.

The issue was, of course, that Healy had scored the submission.

“They both had a beard and whatever,” Buffer said. “You’ll see me sometimes on camera where I’m always watching fights, but I have to make a bunch of notes, and I have to prepare for the next fight on the table. So I was looking down and the fight ended so quick, and it ended in a submission, and they both had the beards, and they both looked similar, and I accidentally named the other fighter the winner.”

This is the truth. The first time I hear that "IT'S TIME" catchphrase of his I thought it was the dumbest thing uttered into a microphone and time has not softened that opinion.

I think my hate for it comes because prior to UFC, I was watching Boxing, and oh how beautiful those announcers voices were. Michael Buffer and the other guy, not sure of his name, it's showtime I think lol

If there's one thing I've learned about Sherdog, is that more people are concerned about other people possibly being "UFC shills" than just enjoying MMA for themselves.

He just seems like the type of guy that would only know the most obvious things like who's Champion and general stuff like that outside of knowing these people personally. But who cares, he's the exclusive long-term UFC ring announcer, what would you expect?
