Is Boyz n the Hood & Menace II Society still reminiscent of what Compton, etc. is like today?

Serious question, I'm just wondering.

Is Compton, Crenshaw, Long Beach, South Central, etc. still the neighborhoods today like they was portrayed in Boyz n the Hood and Menace?

The gun violence, gangs, etc.?

Yes, but now the neighborhoods are nicer thanks to gays, whites, and New Seasons.

Damn it Ice Cube what happened to "Are We There Yet Part 3: I Think I Left The Front Door Open"?

probably, i dont know if hip hop all star americans have changed their mindset

I visited LA last year and really wanted to drive through Compton just to say I did, but my friend told me not to stop or get out of the car.

I didn't get shot at, so take that for what it's worth.

Most US cities are less dangerous than they used to be decades ago, but people still act like they are just as bad for the purposes of street cred & victim cred.

Was Long Beach ever that bad? I've never heard it mentioned with those other areas. I ask because I got offered a job there awhile back and considered moving there, but the pay ended up not being enough.

Long Beach is pretty nice in parts. It's hard to be super ghetto when you have a university, a marina, an aquarium and a Formula 1 race there.

I'd live in Long Beach. Just wouldn't want my kids to go to Long Beach Poly.

Damn, Ice Cube, your getting soft!! Your an OG, man.

took a drive a few months back and it's still just as shitty as ever. Didn't take long until I saw an incident, and caught it on my smart phone. Here it is.

Tru this!

I was just there a couple days ago walking the streets of Compton at 930pm on a thursday and not once did I feel like Im about to get into some shit. Rappers like the Game and YG are just dick riders of what those real hood gangsters were putting in work about 2 decades ago. Those two wouldnt have rooms to front like what they're doing now without getting G checked and put in place. The Game had recently made a documentary on A&E about Compton and when I saw that shit I was laughing and shaking my head the entire time.

And Ice Cube and his Westside Connection ranked out against Cypress Hill. Them ese's made Ice Cube start making those 'Are we there yet?' movies lolz.

The first time I went to Long Beach, my heart broke when I realized Warren G was rapping about the suburbs
