Do you guys think that boxing can be good to use in a streetfight? I have heard and read in a few places that it is pretty bad, but what do you guys think?

Where have you heard it's bad? People say it's the best thing for street fights along with some grappling (wrestling, Judo, BJJ etc). I personally like Muay Thai with some low blows. Elbows are better for that close close range and hands can break if you hit awkward. Maybe some knees.

Yes, boxing is good in a street fight. Try using the search function because there have been many threads on this subject.

boxing is good. but honestly i think western muay thai would be better because it already has boxing influences. and clinch + knee + elbows = win in a street fight...just dont get stabbed

personally for street fighting a recommend the dragon punch. sometimes an occasional sonic boom.

Yes Boxing is very very good. Most fights start with punches so if you punch faster and harder along with being conditioned to take hits then you stand a high chance of winning an exchange.

Why ask?

Most people that ask questions like this only do it so they will know whether or not they'll be whipped or not when they try to use it.

Martial arts are NOT for streetfights. Hate people who get into it for the worst reasons

have you ever seen what tyson did to mitch blood green with one punch

Whoever thinks that boxing is not good for a street fight is a complete idiot. Sure there are other things like grappling and kicking that would complement it, but knowing how to box is always a positive.

Any martial art as long as trained right can be useful in a street fight.

well, basically anything trained for at least like a year gives you MASSIVE advantage over the average drunken brawler, but if it's major threat level, then grab a weapon, glass, stick, pole, small deer, etc.

You know what's much better in a street fight? A knife.

Don't get into boxing/MA to fight people on the street, you'll end up in jail or with a massive law suit on your hands. If someone presents a threat to you, try to avoid it at all costs and if you're in serious danger, like life threatening, you should just have a weapon of some sort. there are far too many variables in a street fight to rely on boxing or any martial art in a street brawl

Do they have streets in Tasmania?? Just kidding, just kidding...

Look kid what everyone else said is right. Martial Arts is about the war within, your inner struggle, but mainly it's about the peace outside.

That being said I don't see any reason you can't give your local bully a black eye or two :icon_twis
