And what does that word exactly mean in MMA? Does he fit that description?

I absolutely like Big Ben btw.

dude took more shots to the face than jenna!

You only call him an overachiever because he looks dopey and fights awkwardly. If he looked cut, sharp and deadly you would call him an underachiever.

Overachiever? Probably not, he tapped Barnett which is incredible and he beat Overeem the same way everyone else does but outside of those two wins he didn't really beat anyone of note since coming to the UFC.

most successful TUE guy after TRT ban.

Umm.. Yeah?

I'm not even sure why he'd be considered an "overachiever"...based off what???

lol remember when BJ Penn went on a rant about Diego Sanchez being an overachiever.

Poster above explained it, Rothwell doesn't look athletic or have an aesthetic style so TS doesn't believe in his skills/ability.

I don't think overachiever is the word you are looking for. Maybe expectation or expect. We didn't expect much from Ben Rothwell. The UFC does not expect much from Ben Rothwell.

By the same standards Fedor and DC are overachievers, Cupcake Tate is an overachiever. Guys like Kongo, Thatch and Erick Silva are underachievers.

oh, yeah. One of the most notable overachievers in the sport tbh.

An overachiever is someone who wouldn't be projected to have the success that they have. Ben Rothwell has been a middling heavyweight for years, then all of a sudden he starts killing people. He went way further than any reasonable person would have expected him to go.

I would say perhaps somewhat similar to Forrest in that you know what you getting with Ben and if an opponent makes a mistake or underperforms he will be there to capitalise. That's difference from say a Randleman or a Soko like fighter who can be inconsistent and pull off moments of magic to cause upsets.

He looked very bad and unactive, which made JDS grow into the bout.

Under your strange deduction of what an overachiever is, I guess. Cormier was a remarkable wrestler who had no hard fight in the heavyweight division. He achieved about the amount of success as he should have, same with Fedor. Fedor did well in RINGS then went to PRIDE and blew out two very good heavyweights.

Erick Silva is absolutely an underachiever btw

People didn't expect much from ben rothwell, then he did more than people thought he could is the literal definition of an overachiever.

I wasn't saying that's my definition, but what TS appears to be going by.

I really don't see how. Rothwell was a middle tier heavyweight who, just prior to his win streak, lost a sloppy, ugly fight with Gonzaga. He just wasn't that good, then he beat Overeem and Barnett, something he shouldn't have been able to do under anybody's projections of his career. Rothwell went from a punching bag to a potential title challenger without changing drastically like someone like Hunt or Lawler did. he is the definition of an overachiever.
