Is ATT and South Florida MMA overhyped?

Hector Lombard and Thiago Silva are two of the scariest people I have ever trained with in my life. They both have a switch where they legitimately try to kill you or anyone if you get them with anything l. I have seen the two of them literally fight one another on multiple occasions to the point even the coaches knew not to get involved until one was too hurt or they were tied up and tired. Shit was honestly insane. Hector is responsible for hurting many many guys in training he is somewhat of a South FL gym bully of myth and legend. Although fun guys to hit the bars with lol.

Has the culture changed at all in regards to gym wars?

Is it acceptable within that world to be like:

"Hey I am not trying to sacrifice my entire career's worth of ability to take a shot and a significant amount of my lifelong brain function for Tuesday afternoon sparring."

Or is it that once someone's ego gets upset all bets are off?

Yes the were never that good nobody was ever that good and every fight is a robbery.

Sherdog should make it so that anytime an account types the words overrated or robbery that account is automatically banned

It's one of the best gyms in the world. 3 weeks ago they produced a new UFC champion (Pantoja) and there is a high probability that Mayra will become WBW UFC champion soon...

I think mega camps will always produce top tier talent. But to be a champion i feel like you have to have a camp centered around you nowadays. Boxers have done this forever… The thing is you are going to need money to do this, so you have to become champion first.

Having your own coach and team around you to give you personal attention everyday just can’t be matched.

A quick look at just the UFCs 155 rankings will let you know they aren’t over hyped. 5 of the UFCs top 15 LW’s train out of ATT.

You might be hard pressed to find another camp with 5 top 15 fighters across all weight classes

Lighter more technical sparring has DEFINITELY become more of the norm in MMA gyms. Although heavy sparring is still important at times it isn’t the CTE weekly gym edition it used to be. As for boxing gyms (where I currently spend most of my time) Heavy sparring is still commonplace. Fighters (and coaches) are definitely smarter about their careers now.

I spent 2 years at ATT coconut creek and anyone that goes there for even a week and trained with the fight team would never have the fucking audacity to make such stupid fucking claims. Although most of you aren’t even built to complete a local cardio kickboxing class.

<DisgustingHHH>

How did you even get to train with them? Are you a pro MMA fighter?

Definitely not overhyped. ATT has had a lot of champions for a reason. Top level coaching, and skill to train/spar with.

ATT (coconut creek) is one of the all time best MMA gyms. They consistently have put out top talent for the last decade and a half. They also have a current UFC title holder as well as Bellator.

These types of threads are ridiculous and show that more of you need to get off the couch and go train because of your lack of understanding and respect for the sport and training as a whole. I get the “was never any good” thing is like a meme around here but I still find it mildly irritating and disrespectful to both fighters and camps.

So why aren't you good at fighting?

What about MMA Masters?

They are called Masters, and they say that they are the best team in the world

MMA masters is/was all the old Team Nogueira guys when he opened up the Miami gym. I trained there for a couple weeks on visitation.

That gym folded and Valverde opened up MMA Masters after even keeping the same striking coach.

ATT is a long drive north of Miami whereas Masters is actually in Miami

So ATT does have a champion what sense does it make to bash them?

It is at the lowest weight class tho
Sir what does that matter? It's not like FLW is some new division, it's been in the UFC for quite a long time and the fighters are pretty good. Anyway, Pantoja is a fucking beast did you see him beat Brandon Moreno for the third time in his career at UFC 290?

How did you even get to train with them? Are you a pro MMA fighter?
I pass the eye test. To be honest even though I didn’t make a career of it I have always been around the best guys since my early days in the game. I may not have made a push for myself but let’s just say I do well with anybody on any given day. There’s not too many situations where I’m out of my depth (except in some wrestling rooms I guess).

Dustin Poirier got knocked out yesterday and I realize that ATT does not really produce that many champs as a gym.

In general, when looking at the champs in the UFC you have the following:

Jon Jones who trains with Jackson Wink (New Mexico)
LHW is vacant but Jamahal Hill trained in Michigan
MW Champ Adesanya trains with Eugene Bareman out of NZ
WW champ Edwards is from the UK and trains there
LW Makachev trains at AKA in Nor Cal
FW Volk once again with Bareman and out of NZ
BW Aljaman with Serra Longo in NY
Flyweight Pantoja is the only ATT champ

Is South Florida MMA just overhyped?
ATT has produced like 50 notable fighters. This thread is garbage.

Definitely sound like morons who are trying to be or prove how tough they are instead of getting better. Avoid idiots like that in training. That was a big part of Ken's problems with Lion's Den.

I wish Joanna had not gone to ATT. Instead of building on what made her good they tried to retrain her into the cookie cutter blue print they have.
