Is anyone "meh" about the Brock anouncement?

not against Mark Hunt.... like come on? too bad Mir is gone.. would love to see that again

I just don't really care. He's probably far passed his prime at this point, and other than his name and image, I just don't think this is the biggest news ever like a lot of people are reacting like.

I'm in the same boat.

I'm more worried about his health and if he's in fighting shape than if he can beat Hunt. UFC should be focusing on getting and bringing up young talent, not recycling old guys that should've stayed retired.

Doesn't make up for losing Coner, but its a start.

Hipsters only.

Don't care. Just want to see him beat up and sent packing again.

Honestly, if he loses, he has no reason to stay. It would just go to reinforce what you and some others are saying. But if he wins, I think we will see him again. They probably have to call it a one off fight, since he will have other obligations. But I think if he wins, he will probably try to get back in the cage down the road.

I'm not going to say anyone has to like Lesnar, or even should like him. But I do think he is (or at least was) better than what the haters say, but probably not as good as some of his fans say. Really, it's not any different from any other fighter, except that he is a bigger name, so people will have more extreme opinions.

For me personally, the pro wrestling thing doesn't bother me. I mean, with guys like CM Punk or Dave Bautista, its more of an experiment. But guys like Lashley and Lesnar have an actual base for their MMA careers. On top of that, I always wondered what pro wrestling would be like if they fought for real, which is why MMA initially appealed to me, and really made me stop caring about pro wrestling completely. So when these guys are willing to be in a real fight, I like that.

I guess I don't really understand the stigma coming from pro wrestlers in MMA. As long as it is a legit fight, what is the problem. I don't remember people having a problem with guys like Amir Sadollah, Matt Riddle, or Matt Mitrione coming in with no prior pro MMA experience other than TUF. I don't see people getting worked up over school teachers getting in MMA, and even having success. But when somebody who is already known wants to do it, people write them off completely. It's like they are okay when a school teacher who learned from instructional videos comes along, or a former unknown football player. But a pro wrestler, even one with high level collegiate wrestling credentials comes along, it's no good. I guess I'll never understand. But I also don't have any bias against guys coming from WWE.

Glad to hear you are looking forward to Sanchez/Lauzon (I have wanted to see this for years) and Miller/Gomi. I'm as excited for these two fights as I am for any of the other fights on the card.

This is an extremely reasonable post. If Lesnar could just tone down the WWE style trash talk and be a little more real and work on his flinch reflex i might be able to tolerate him. Im not saying stop trash talking, just be more real about it. Not so theatrical. Its patronizing and childish.

Im not sure that you can compare guys like Franklin or Amir fighting in the UFC to Lesnar though.

Oh yeah and i also forgot about the Dilly fight. Im a huge fan. Dont know how i forgot that one. So yeah i guess im more butthurt about Lesnar than about the actual card. If Aldo is out now i hope they bring in Holloway.

im kind of hyped but not really - the layoff is an issue, but hes a big name and thats what promoters want - i wouldnt expect hard cores to be that thrilled about it overall, except for the ability to put lesnar down for his inability to take strikes

You realize many old school mma stars transitioned between mma and pro wrasslin over in japan? I have zero interest in WWE and havent watched it since I was a kid in the 80s, but how can you not be excited in brock and call him not a real fighter especially with how shit the heavies have been.

Yeah i dont like when MMA fighters do that. I cant knock guys that have done that because it makes them good money without getting hurt but i dont like it.

I think its easy to not be excited about Brock. Whats to be excited about ? Im not a fan of WWE and he isnt a skilled or exciting fighter at all. What does he have ? A bum rush double on guys mostly smaller and weaker than him without wrestling backgrounds to make him look like a beast. Yaaaaawwwn. Watching his standup in the cage is embarrassing. Seriously ive seen many guys look better in burners after training for a year. His win over Carwin contradicts what ive said but if you think about it, Carwin smashed Brock and that fight legitimately could have been stopped before Carwin completely gassed himself out smashing Brocks head. The heavies could be better, but Brock doesnt accomplish that imo.

I don't have anything nice to say about pro wrestling either.

With Lesnar, I just pretend nobody told me he does wwe

I could forget that if he wasnt so fake in his trash talk and didnt have worse standup than any average guy in the gym for a year. I have no idea how anyone is excited to watch this guy fight for any other reason than to see him get smashed by a real fighter. That would really suck If hes able to take down Hunt and stay on top of him for 3 rounds.

I was at first, then they announced Hunto as his opponent. Hard to not get excited about seeing Mark fight.

Hes one and done no matter the outcome then back to WWE per his contract.. This was probably done to save UFC200 card after the conor-diaz fight fell through..

Given the age he started training striking, he did well on the feet against Herring and Couture.

I like that he's a throwback-style fighter. Really good at one thing, trying to be competent at others, and does pretty well with that mix of skills. I would LOVE to see him fight Fedor, but I guess that's not going to happen.

Lmao, giving Brock credit for someone Fedor already finished in the first round.
How green was Hunt at that point and Fedor was already the goat supposedly? Where is hunt ranked now? Fedor is about to fight a one dimensional, undersized LHW that lost to Kyle Kingsbury.

Another ass whooping added to the card, Fucking sweet!!!!
