Is Aljamain still the BW GOAT

or does Dominick get that title back?

Was he never that good now?

Just curious.

Aljo was never that good.

Won an Emmy for the title, rode Yan as a backpack in the rematch, be a one-armed Dillashaw, and just quit to a pink-haired poodle.

Aljo is best win was over and aged, fat Cejudo.

He doesn't have a single other legit Champion win.

Dom is one of the biggest what ifs in mma history IMO. The guy spent his best years out injured and even when he came back off injury to decision TJ, he already looked much slower then his WEC/early UFC days. His kicks basically disappeared and his explosive shots were never to be seen again.

Dom's win over TJ is underrated. The guy had one fight in 4 years, coming off a 2 year layoff to win the title off a prime, roided TJ.

Watch WEC Dom then watch any fight of Dom's post TJ comeback and it's like two different people.

That last sentence is so true. Post-TJ, Dom's signature movement, the bumping and moving was so much more limited, and that made him easier to hit.

I also agree that his win against TJ was underrated. That 5th round in particular, where Dom's leg / foot were shot, showed tremendous heart.

TJ's wins over Barao were epic, but he was never as good as Dom was with the switching stances and fluid movement. I think Dom would have tooled Barao (granted, that's a what if). Maybe not knocked him out like TJ did, but Dom would have picked Barao apart and exhausted him.

Dom's injuries were probably due to his high movement style blended with the wear-and-tear of wrestling. Dom blended the best of Willie Pep's unpredictability and unorthodox movement with fantastic knee-tap takedowns. But that is a grueling style. Not everyone is genetically built to be a grinder. There are exceptions, e.g. Nadal in tennis (although rumors have persisted for years he's on HGH or other things).

Aljo was literally never the BW GOAT. That is a UFC talking point.

They called TWood the WW GOAT for a few years lol

I don't think Dom ever lost that title tbh. TJ was clearly super juiced on a another level. Was probably juiced when fighting Barao which in hindsight hasn't aged well as he pretty much lost every fight after that. He only has 2 defenses against Barao and Cody both rematches and got saved by the bell in r1 of his first fight with Cody. All while being juiced to the gills.

Aljo had a long win streak but looking at his performances as champ leaves a lot to be desired. Cruz was interrupted by serious injuries repeatedly. He never gave weak performances or was outclassed while in his prime. I understand all the perspectives but that's just how I see it

Arguably lost to Yan, Cejudo, and beat TJ who fought with a dislocated shoulder. He should have never even been in the discussion.

Which fight did Yan win? The first where Yan dq'd himself, or the rematch where he got backpacked and pounded on for 5 rounds?

Really trying to understand this logic

1. He was outstriking Yan in the first fight and it was very back and forth

2. It was a dominant split decision

3. TJ was always massively overrated but it was a very easy win over a former champion

4. What do you want him to do? Cejudo was the lineal champion and never lost the belt. If he was the aggressor the whole time or fought him straight he would have got KTFO. He fought smart against a stylistic nightmare of an opponent and got the split decision
Aljo was the luckiest champ sense Benson Henderson, was looking he was gonna lose to Yan and then Yan all of a sudden thinks he’s in PRIDE and throws illegal knee, next he supposed to rematch him in 2021 but he has neck surgery and for whatever reason are favourite pink Goof didn’t strip him. Fast forward to 2022 and now a war has broken out between Russia and Ukraine and Yan has no one available in his corner because of Visa issues as a result Aljo gets easy pickings, next TJ Dillashaws coach comes out and says yeah lol I throw my fighters fights, TJ blows out his shoulder in the second round against Aljo, Jose who has great takedown defence would have been fighting Aljo if Mr CEO of EPO didn’t pop his shoulder like he does with epo, next he has a coin toss fight against Henry, that many think Henry should have won, this fight against Sean his 3 year lucky streak ran dry he decided lol I can strike with Suga Sean an elite striker he pushed his luck and got blasted

Jon aniks propaganda saying he was the goat

I’ve always kind of wondered who creates a thread like this in a Karate Forum?

Some people just HAVE to tell the world.. I told you so, I guess?

New champ is always the GOAT, that's how it goes on Sherdog. I am surprised if someone actually thought Sterling was the BW GOAT. How could someone argue that he's the GOAT? People are silly.
